Myra's POV

''Today we have more customers than usual,'' Sienna said.

Sienna is one of my colleagues in the diner. she is my friend, but we are not that close. Just a workmate.

''Yes, I have noticed,'' I said while taking a tray that had a customer's food. ''But what can we do? I need money.'' I added shrugging and left to serve the awaiting customer.

''Here you go Miss,'' I said while placing the tray of food on the table.

We had served a lot of customers and I had forgotten to keep track of time. As I checked the time on my phone it was past the time, I was supposed to pick up Giada from the daycare. I usually take her at three and bring her to the diner to spend some time with Mrs. Mabel until my work hour is over which is at six.

''Bye, Mrs. Mabel!'' I shouted as I ran towards the door. suddenly I bumped into someone.

''I am so sorry mister,'' I said picking up my bag that had fallen.

''Watch where you are going,'' he said.

''I am sorry,'' I said looking up at him and left. If I had the time, I could have given him my piece of mind but since I was late and Giada is more important than a rude stranger, I had to leave.

''Mommy!'' I saw Giada running towards me as I made my way to the waiting area.

''OH, hi baby,'' I said while picking her up and hugging her. I noticed the tear stains on her face and I felt bad and guilty.

''what took you so long Mommy.'' She asked.

'' Am sorry baby. Mommy had a lot of work to do but I promise I will never be late again I said pecking her on the cheeks. She giggled.

''Okay.'' She said while giggling.

''Thank you, Mrs. Emma.

''No problem she is quite a lovely girl.''

Mrs. Emma is the babysitter, at the daycare and she helps and takes care of Gia and also other kids. She is loved by many because of her kind and welcoming features. We said our goodbyes to her, and we headed back to the diner.

''Myra there is a group that needs to be served at table five.'' Fred, one of my workmates said.

''On it,'' I said while taking my notepad and walking towards table five. The table had five gentlemen I only recognized one whom I bumped into earlier. The others must have come while I was not there or they came earlier but anyways.

''Hi, what can I do for you?'' I asked.

''Oh, hello there.'' One who had a pair of grey eyes said cheerfully.  ''We would like drinks, Three Pepsi Cola and two bottles of stilled water.''

''okay.''

''What is a shepherd's pie?''  Another one who was seated across from the grey-eyed asked staring deeply at the menu.

''It's a mixture of minced lamb and vegetables and it's covered with mashed potatoes.''

''Sounds delicious. Does it come with French fries?''

''yes, it is accompanied by salad and French fries.''

''We will have that one please.''

''Okay,'' I said while jolting down everything.

''Anything else.'' I asked.

''Damien what would you like to eat?'' The grey-eyed one asked the stranger I bumped into. He shrugged then answered,'' whatever you eat.''

So, Damien is his name.

''We will have the shepherd's pie and the drinks for all of us.'' He said rolling his eyes just a little bit. I nodded and left to get their orders.

A few minutes later

''Here are your drinks and food. Enjoy.''

''We sure will.''

I was placing the tray down and Sienna called out.

''Myra there is an old lady at table two asking for you.''

'' Okay am Comi...''

''Hello, what would you like me to serve you today I can be your waitress for the evening.'' She said grinning from ear to ear. I rolled my eyes internally because clearly, she can see that I have already served them. But I paid no mind and left to serve the old lady.

My working hour was already over, and it was time to take me and Giada home before nightfall. The place we stay is not that safe, especially at nighttime. I finished cleaning the counters and proceeded to Mrs. Mabel's office.

What about the strangers I was serving? Well, Sienna took over. End of story!!!

''Good night, Myra Mrs. Mabel said as we left, Giada was already asleep, and at times like this, I prefer taking the cab rather than the bus.
