Damien's POV
Her apartment was really neat, everything in its place. The ride here was quite good. I enjoyed Gia's questions and was amazed by how intelligent she was. I will admit, when she asked if I could stay it caught me by surprise. Her apartment was really small and by the look of it it was a one-bedroom apartment it had things, but not a lot, it looked like a normal place. There were no family pictures on the wall or any of those cute little pictures that people take when they are kids doing silly things. Well, I do not have them because my life is not as normal as hers. I talked with Gia, and her showing me the things they had bought, and they looked really cute. After some time, Myra came announcing that lunch was ready. We ate the food which was quite good, and we made small conversations.
''How old is Gia?'' I asked.
''She is two she said.'' My son or daughter could also have been two by now. I thought zoning out a little bit.
''Is something wrong?'' She asked.
''No, it is just that it reminds me of something else,'' I said.
''Oh.'' She spoke.
''And she is quite intelligent,'' I added.
''She is. She is the most special thing that has ever happened to me.'' She said looking at her with admiration. Wow. By the time we finished eating, Giada was already asleep, so it was me, and Myra and I decided to keep the conversation going and it was still early. We sat down and continued talking. She was comfortable and I took that as a sign to continue with the conversation.
''So, where is your family,'' I asked.
''Well, I was raised in a foster home, so I don't know who my parents are.'' She said lowly. I mean I could relate even though i had both parents. My father did not behave like one.
''I have lived alone for some time but after I found Giada, she has been my companion since then.'' She added. But she said something that did not sit well.
''Found?'' I asked. She kept quiet for some time before answering.
''Well, yeah.'' She spoke. ''I found her in the dumpsite near my apartment. She said looking into the space and I let her continue. ''I found her two years ago, I was coming home from work at night, and I heard light whimpers, so I went to look and found her wrapped in a blanket, so I took her. I called the police, but they said they could not help me with the situation. So, I decided to adopt her, and she became mine.'' She spoke. By the time she was through with her story, I was confused. She found her in a dumpsite during the night and it was two years ago. Miranda disappeared in the middle of the night two years ago, the search team could not find the baby because they did not come this far and if they did, they could have not found the child because we searched for the child one week later and the child was taken that very same night that Miranda disappeared. Could it be possible that Giada is my child? I was really deep into thought I did not even realize Myra was calling me until she shook me.
''Damien! Are you alright?'' She said alarm in her voice.
''Oh, I am sorry, Myra I do not understand,'' I said standing up. ''Do you remember the day or date you found Giada?'' I asked hoping she could. If she can remember the day or date the puzzle will fill itself.
''No, I do not remember the date, but I remember it was on a Tuesday, and it was raining lightly.'' She spoke. ''Why do you ask Damien.'' She added but I zoned out again. Miranda left on Tuesday in the middle of the night.
''No,'' I said not knowing what to think. ''Myra are you sure,'' I asked again.
''Yes, Damien.'' She spoke.
''Why?'' She asked again. But I was so confused to even answer her questions.
''Damien what is happening?'' She asked this time getting irritated.
''Myra it is a long story, but I need you to come with me to my house. You and Gia please.'' She looked at me questioningly. I continued. I promise I will explain to you all the details but right now I just need you to come with me.'' I spoke. reassuring her that it is going to be fine.
''Okay.'' She spoke. She went into the room adjacent to where we were and took Giada and we left. The whole drive was silent, and I was glad it was because I was not in the right mood of answering questions.
