Damien's POV
It has been a busy week and we did not have time to go into the small diner that we made a habit of going to. What about Brad? Well, Brad will not be disturbing us for now. Myra. I sighed. I wanted to see her so bad and after work, I decided to go into the diner this time alone. I drove to the diner and saw it was closed I almost felt bad but suddenly I saw a walking figure. A woman it could be Myra, so I drove near, and it was Myra I was really glad.
''Myra.'' I called. She hesitated a little but turned around.
''Damien! Jesus Christ, you scared me!'' She said clutching her heart.
''Am sorry I dint mean to,'' I spoke. we talked a little and after admitting that she was glad to see me I felt great and proud of her knowing she could defend herself although pepper spray is not enough I know it can do wonders. I offered to take her home and she agreed.
''What were you doing here anyway she asked.'' Should I say I came to see her? No that will seem awkward I decided to lie though it was half the truth.
''Um, I was coming from work,'' I spoke.
Silence
''How old are you she asked.'' well, this is going somewhere I thought.
''What, do I look like a potential boyfriend?'' I asked jokingly. I watched her as she struggled to talk and I thought, way to go Damien.
''Am twenty-six.'' I spoke.
''Oh.'' She spoke. Wait is that bad I thought so I decided to ask her.
''And you, how old are you?''
''Twenty-one.'' She spoke. She is quite young I thought silence. Say something Damien my inner self said and so without thinking,
''So where is Gia's father?'' I asked. She shifted on her seat uncomfortable with the subject.
''It is a long story.'' She said and looked out the window. I felt guilty. I did not mean to make her uncomfortable. After some time, we arrived at her place. I apologized to her, and she said it was fine and she was not ready to talk since we are strangers. Yes, we are. She does not know anything about me, and if I was asked the same question I would probably reply the same way. After we said our goodbyes, I drove back. I inhaled her scent that was left lingering in my car and tell you what, it smelt really good. She looked innocent; those dark brown eyes said it all and I felt somehow guilty for trying to be in her life, but I cannot help it. I have never felt this drawn to a woman before it was a foreign feeling, and I was willing to surrender myself to it. Well and the little girl Gia, is adorable, intelligent, and also beautiful. I cannot help but feel a connection with the girl. Maybe it is my fatherly instincts that were snatched away from me when Miranda decided to kill our child I thought angrily.
Up to this day, I regret ever underestimating her. She claimed to have loved me. But if she did, she would have kept the child and who knows maybe we would have fallen in love. But because of her selfishness here, we are living separate lives. Her in a mental hospital and me here thinking about my dead child but can you collect spilled milk? I admit I never had any feelings for her because our marriage was arranged and her getting pregnant was a mistake, but I was willing to accept the child after all it was mine and I wanted to be there for my son or daughter, but it never happened.
After that incident, the contract broke, and our marriage was over which I was very glad that it ended and that she can get out of my life, but she did not. She went ballistic saying she killed the child for our sake so that we could live together and love each other with no obstacles. Cynical Bastard! A few months passed and she started acting weird. She was taken to the hospital for diagnosis, and she was mentally ill, so she had to be admitted and undergo treatment. Up to this day, she is still undergoing treatment.
''Boss.''
My thoughts were cut short. I had reached my mansion and I needed a cold shower and get some sleep.
