Chapter Eight

"We're never having a party here again," Florencia said as she and William walked around picking up discarded bottles and cups.

They stopped by the sofa where Fred was asleep.

"When did he pass out?" William asked Florencia.

"Sometime after 1:00," Florencia answered, thinking about the last time she saw Fred during the party. "The last time I saw him, he was playing strip poker with some friends," She added.

"Should we wake him up and send him to bed?" William asked.

"Not a good idea. He's already embarrassed himself enough but we could shave his eyebrows, though," Florencia replied as they started cleaning around the sofa.

"Whose is this?" William asked as he held up a bra.

"Oh, it doesn't look familiar," Florencia answered.

"I will ride from village to village and try it on every fair maiden. The one it fits shall become my bride," William joked.

Florencia chuckles and shakes her head.

"Just put the bra down and help me clean this up," Florencia says.

They continued cleaning until Emily brought up William's girlfriend of the month.

"So, Emily wasn't at the party. I haven't seen her in ages," Florencia said as she placed a bottle in the trash bag.

"We broke up," William said.

"Oh, I'm sorry," Florencia said.

"Thanks," William said.

"Why did you two break up?" Florencia asked William.

William studied her face before answering.

"I guess we ran out of things to talk about," William said.

The next morning, Catherine, William, and Fred are at the kitchen table eating breakfast, when Florencia walks into the kitchen.

"Good morning," Florencia said.

"Mmm, good morning," Fred mumbles.

"Class starts in half an hour," Catherine reminded Florencia.

Florencia nods.

"No. William...Ring them and have it changed," Fred said, suffering from a terrible hungover.

"I don't think they'll listen to me," William said.

"They have to. You're going to run the country one day," Fred said.
