Between classes and Halloween preparations, it was soon Friday and it came with excitement buzzing in the air. Everyone was patiently waiting for classes to end, it seemed even Snape wanted to get the lessons over with.
Since Emelie only had Transfiguration this day, she'd spent a good amount of her free periods in the common room doing homework or just reading. Hermione, Ron, and Harry joined her at exactly 5:00 o'clock.
"I'll go get changed since McGonagall specifically mentioned to get dressed nicely-no, not fancy, Ron- for the arrival of the schools". Emelie followed Hermione up to their dorms and fished for her Gryffindor uniform as she had been wearing a cloak and regular clothes all day.
Finally, at a quarter till six, the four friends headed down to the courtyard to see the two schools arrive. All of Hogwarts was standing in the courtyard and Emelie felt trapped.
Sure enough, Dumbledore rushed them over to the lake so that everyone had more room to move around freely. Emelie walked down to the lake, nearly tripping on the cobblestone path (even though she'd taken it everyday last year to see Hagrid). The sight before her was unreal. A broad boat rose from the water, its sails flapping in the wind. Emelie could then see Hagrid waving flags in the air and when she looked up, a big carriage flown by winged horses was landing down into the Forbidden Forest.
"Students!", Dumbledore's voice rang out amidst the field of alumni, "Please follow me over to the Great Hall so that rival schools can make their grand entrances". Emelie walked back up the path to the Great Hall realizing she'd lost track of Hermione, Harry, and Ron. Thankfully, Ginny found Emelie and told her Harry, Ron, and Hermione had sneaked in to see Hagrid.
"But, how come at the last minute? They surely wouldn't want to miss the schools entering".
"Exactly what I told them yet Harry persisted. Hopefully Hagrid dismisses them". Ginny and Emelie finally enter the Great Hall which is already filled with Halloween decorations for tomorrow's celebration. Hagrid's big pumpkins were scattered about and even the Hogwarts ghosts were floating around. Emelie took a seat, patiently looking around to check if the trio had come back. Sure enough, Hermione, Ron, and Harry walked in with a couple of other Gryffindors taking their seats next to Emelie.
"So, Hagrid dismissed you all?", Ginny asked.
"Indeed. He said we need come back some other time. It isn't our fault Harry forced us".
"I just really have to talk to him!", Harry complained, but before he could go on, Dumbledore silenced everyone with a light tap of silverware against glass.
"My dear students, tonight we welcome upon us two schools who have been in the running for the Triwizard tournament long before its time. Durmstrang and Beauxbatons have given us the great pleasure of welcoming them into our fine school. Both schools will stay in their transportation devices, a carriage for Beauxbatons and a boat for Durmstrang. Now before I can continue, let us welcome the finest of French schools, Beauxbatons and their headmistress, Madam Maxime!".
