The four champions had their dances first. They all swayed to elegant waltzes and Emelie tried her best to pry her gaze off of Cedric and Cho. Instead, she looked at Viktor and Hermione and Harry and Parvati who moved gracefully although Harry could have used more practice.

Afterwards, McGonagall urged the rest of the students on the dance floor while she took Dumbledore by hand to dance with him.

"Don't mess this up, Weasley," Emelie teased.

George placed a hand on her waist, Emelie putting her own on his shoulder. They did the steps that McGonagall had teached them in their first dance lesson, George being careful to not step on Emelie's gown. When he lifted her up by the waist as the second set of dance moves, Emelie closed her eyes and for a second imagined that Cedric was with her.

"You're much lighter than I thought" George whispered once he set her down and Emelie stepped on his foot lightly. George winced, giving her a fake pout.

As they spun around once more waiting until the waltz ended, Emelie caught a glimpse of Cedric and Cho. It seemed they had finished their dance and had moved away from each other. Emelie wondered what could have gone wrong between them.

Abruptly, George spun her around again, ending their dance.

"Shall I get the drinks, Mademoiselle?". Emelie laughed. His French pronunciation would need more work. She nodded, sitting down while she waited for George to come back with the drinks.

Ron and Padma sat down next to her, seemingly arguing.

"I didn't step on your dress!" Ron told her.

"Oh please, what is this stain here?" Padma asked, pointing to the hem of her dress.

Ron sighed, slumping in his seat. George soon came back with the seats, tossing a joke about how Ron and Padma were already arguing.

"The ball hasn't even started, give it some time". Ron and Padma found it all but amusing.

George, knowing it wasn't the right time, pulled Emelie back to the dance floor while she was halfway sipping her drink.

"It's time for a different dance style", he said, pulling her in the crowd. Hermione and Viktor were there two, and they both waved. The music was indeed very upbeat, confusing Emelie.

"How do I dance to this?", she yelled amidst the crowd.

"Like this!". George jumped up and down, urging her to do the same. So Emelie carefully jumped up and down but decided against it since her gown would get messy. Instead, she pumped her fists and bopped head to the beat. Cedric and Cho were long gone while Emelie danced, feeling both foolish and  lighthearted.

By the time the song finished, Emelie and George were nearly sweating. They stepped off the dance floor just as the crowd engulfed Professor Flitwick into a massive crowd wave.

Emelie laughed at the tiny Professor but it only lasted a bit. As if the universe wanted to see her in pain, there were Cedric and Cho dancing again. It seemed nothing had happened between them after all and Emelie's heart sank.

"Um, George? I need to go get, uh, something. I'll be back shortly". George nodded, waving her off.

Emelie walked out past the crowd, the flower on her hand nearly falling off. She was surely being exaggerated if her mother were to see her. But in her head, she was being completely rational and fair.

Everyone would get mad if they saw someone they fancied with someone else right?

Emelie tried to find an empty classroom on the first floor until she came across a classroom that she recognized as the Muggle Studies classroom. Once inside, she looked for something, anything she could use to unleash her anger.

The first thing she saw was a thick book and she decided to go with it.

She no clue why she was about to do this, but then again, it it helped her calm herself down, it was worth it.

She raised the book and hit one of the desks in the front of the classroom. She stumbled back shocked at what she had done. Yet, she didn't care. Emelie kept doing it, hitting the desk multiple times until there was a dent in the middle of the desk.

Once she was done, she breathed heavily. She'd really just done that all over a boy. Her mother would have killed her by now.

A single tear went down her cheek and she wiped it using the palm of her hand. Emelie placed the hammer back and took out her wand.

"Oculus Reparo", she choked out and the dent in the desk went back to normal. Quickly and quietly, Emelie tiptoed out the classroom, holding up her skirt so it she wouldn't trip over.

While heading back to the Great Hall, Emelie heard someone screaming. No, it wasn't someone. It was Hermione.

"You spoiled everything!". Emelie peared at her from behind a pillar and saw that she was sitting down on the entrance hall stairs, crying and taking off her heels. Emelie sighed. This night had gone the complete opposite of how it was supposed to go.
