"Emelie wake up, we're going to be late for class", Hermione whispered, shaking her awake. Emelie stretched and yawned.
Last night, they stayed up late celebrating Harry's win. They'd all only stopped when McGonagall came up to the tower to warn them about the reckus they were making.
Emelie was now fully awake, putting on her Gryffindor uniform, with pants instead of a skirt. She slipped on her cloak, running down the stairs into the Great Hall. Everyone was already there so only a bit of food was left over for Emelie but she managed.
As she ate, Emelie revealed her plan to Hermione and Ginny.
"I'm thinking of going on a picnic date with Cedric", Emelie said. Hermione stopped, her forkful of egg almost at her mouth.
"Cedric? I'd think you two were already dating with all the looks you're giving each other". Emelie's face burned red.
"So you've noticed?"
"Of course, I have", Hermione replied. Ginny then leaned forward to whisper.
"Well, shouldn't you write him a letter then? Maybe it'll help him realize your intentions better". Emelie pondered on this.
"Yeah, I think you're right". Emelie got up, swinging her bag over her shoulder.
"Wait, where are you going?", asked Harry who had been talking to Ron.
"Just going to write a letter. May I borrow Hedwig?".
Harry nodded so Emelie went off to the common room to quickly write a letter to Cedric. She pulled out a piece of parchment out her bag, held a quill and wrote:
Dear Cedric,
I know we haven't talked much but I'd like to get to know you. If you please, I would fancy having a picnic near the Black Lake at lunch. Don't worry about the professors, I'll have my friends look out for them. Give me a signal at lunch time if you're in.
Much love, EmelieEmelie debated the last part of "much love" but didn't think too much about it, handing Hedwig the letter.
"You better get this to him by lunchtime, Hedwig", she whispered to the owl. Emelie then went back downstairs and met Fred and George exiting the Great Hall.
When Fred saw her, he said, "I heard you're taking Cedric Diggory on a date". He winked at her and she laughed out loud.
"You do really listen to everything then don't you?", she asked.
"We're not called Gred and Forge for a reason", George said, making Emelie shake her head amusingly.
Suddenly, Emelie feels someone breeze past her only to find it is Draco Malfoy.
"I'm sorry, I didn't see you there Amelia", he mocked. Can't admit defeat can he. Emelie's whole body shivered as she said, "I can't stand that little urchin".
"Me either, Amelia", Fred teased. She slapped his arm playfully and they all entered the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom.
Today Moody has prepared a series of enchantments for them to try which were a little less terrifying than the Unforgivable Curses. Emelie tried them but was distracted by Cedric who hadn't looked at her at all.
He's either not seen me or he's gotten the letter and thinks I'm a loony, Emelie debated in her head.
After, Defence Against the Dark Arts was Potions. Just the thought of being in the same room as the Slytherins after their defeat yesterday made her skin prickle. Luckily, nothing bad happened besides Marcu Flint throwing a leech her way.
"What a filthy person!" Alicia Spinnet whispered to Emelie when the leech fell near her cauldron. Emelie snickered.
"It's fine Alicia". Snape though eyed them suspiciously as if they were the ones who threw the leech across the room.
At long last, it was time for lunch and Emelie went down to the Great Hall with sweaty palms. She hoped Hedwig had delivered or was on her way to delivering the letter to Cedric or else she would not know how to tell him.
Emelie sat down at the Gryffindor table not bothering to say hi to anyone but looking at the Hufflepuffs to see if Cedric had gotten the letter.
"Are you not going to eat?" Ron asked. He was eyeing her steak and kidney pie.
"Um no, I'm going with Cedric, remember?". Ron nodded and without hesitation took her pie. Then it came. Hedwig swooped down onto the Hufflepuff table, dropping the parchment Emelie recognized as her own letter.
Her stomach began to squeeze in a knot as she watched Cedric open the letter.
To distract herself she looked behind her at the Ravenclaws and Beauxbatons students. Fleur seemed to be talking about the task from yesterday because Emelie noticed her mimicking the exact movements of the other champions yesterday.
Even from about 6 feet away, Emelie could hear her French accent. It was a good thing she knew how to speak a bit of French so she would be prepared in case Fleur talked to her.
Emelie turned her focus back to the Hufflepuff table only to find that Cedric was searching for her. When he finally caught her eye, he jerked his head towards the door. Breathlessly, Emelie nodded, getting up.
"Have fun on your date", George whispered. Emelie rolled her eyes, sarcastically.
"Oh, hush. Promise me you'll keep a lookout for Professors?". Hermione nodded, urging Harry and Ron to do the same. And just like that, Emelie exited out and made her way to the Black Lake, Cedric most likely following suit.
