Katsuki fought against the swelling tide of fans.

He shoved against the door, trying to free himself from his accidental prison in the corner of the room, but there were too many bodies pressing back... which meant there was way too much space between him and Cade. Desperate and chock full of worry—because no fuckin' way would he be afraid of a bunch of teenagers—Kat gripped the top of the door and hoisted himself up one-handed, peering over the top at the situation.

Cadence cowered in the corner of the room, bracing herself against the wall with wide, terrified eyes. A forced smile wavered on her face, slipping away when someone got too close only to be replaced with an equally fearful grin; the smile, no matter how forced, looked wrong with her widened, tearful eyes. It seemed like she was trying to make conversation with the fans nearest her, but her words were drowned by their incessant chatter and roving hands.

A pair of scissors glinted in the moonlight cutting in through the lone window.

Gritting his teeth, Katsuki pulled himself up the door and crouched on top like a feral little gargoyle, examining the scene before them. From him to Cadence were at least thirty young girls mixed with a few sweaty adult men, all in various stages of breaking down before their idol: shaking, crying, sobbing, screaming, outright tantrum-throwing on the carpet. Most of them had a streak of blue in their hair the same shade as Cade's... in reverence, he assumed.

"Oi! Extras!" Kat yelled, "Get out of the way before I make you move!"

The crowd of girls and men between them turned their heads in creepy synchronization, their expressions fading into anger... or worse.

"You heard me!" Kat shouted from his perch, "Get the fuck out of here before I blow you all up, or worse, call your parents!"

A few of the faces dropped, the fear of their parents' wrath more terrifying than Kat's threats, empty or not. Some of the girls nearest to him glanced at the door, obviously reconsidering their plan.

Using his good hand to balance and hold onto the door, Katsuki raised his other, forcing his quirk to produce some sparks. "I'm not fucking kidding! If you don't all leave in the next five seconds, I'm calling the police," Kat threatened. "Five, four—"

The groupies screeched in cacophonous unison, trampling over each other in a race to get to the door. A few were crying as they ran. One of the men dropped his fedora and burst into tears when some teens trampled it flat. "Three two one!" Katsuki yelled after them, "Go home, you fucking degenerates!" He hopped down from his perch and closed the door after the last of them, slumping back against it. Without looking, Kat took a deep breath and latched the locks over his shoulder. Finally... peace.

From the opposite end of the room, he heard a quiet sob.

The relief of the empty room fled his chest all at once, replaced by something cold that took a second to name — fear. Kat vaulted over both neat beds to Cadence's side and knelt there, fussing over her tangled hair, plastered to her forehead slick with sweat; her body shook as she gripped her knees to her chest, trying to hold herself together. In her hands, she held Katsuki's phone, still recording.

"K-K-Kat, I—" Cade's voice broke, and a fresh wave of tears bloomed, cascading down her cheeks in black waterfalls. She sobbed and clutched at his shirt, her screams reverberating in his chest.

He gently tugged his phone from her hands, ending the recording. Despite being half-asleep on top of the sudden and overwhelming tide of fans, Cadence had the wherewithal to grab Katsuki's phone and record the entire event, and Kat couldn't help but be impressed by that. He ran a hand through her long hair, trying to be soothing, and found a jagged, short piece around the side of her head.
