"You look fine. Stop worrying, moron."
Honeyed morning sun trickled in through the hotel room window, painting Katsuki's war torn skin in blinding gold. The room still smelled of fresh coffee and room service waffles piled high with whipped cream and strawberries which were already devoured. For a few minutes, as the two of them came to their senses, everything was simple and perfect.
Groaning as she crawled out of bed, Cadence hastily yanked on rumpled clothes from the hotel room floor, and Bakugo propped himself up on an elbow to watch.
He admired the long lines of her legs, the swell of her hips, the sun lighting the tangles in her cerulean hair. After last night, Kat memorized each and every last inch of Cadence, down to the lone freckle behind her knee and the shiny-smooth scar on her shoulder. Everything about her was memorable, note-worthy, amazing. Why hadn't the rest of the world noticed her flawlessness yet? But then again, Katsuki realized, maybe that's what her walls were for — to keep everyone else from seeing the true Cadence.
And despite all of that... she let Katsuki in.
Filled once more with that warm but unnamable emotion, Kat buried his face in his hands to hide the heat in his cheeks and said, "Scratch that, you're more than fine. You're fucking perfect, you blue-haired idiot."
Cadence laughed as she rolled on a black thigh-high sock, hiding a purpling hickey or two under the fabric. "Wow, a compliment and a diss in the same sentence... I didn't peg you for the corny type, babe."
"You've never pegged me period, babe," he smirked, lunging out of bed to grab Cade around the waist, roping her back into the comfort of the down-soft sheets in a storm of giggles and flailing limbs.
"Kat! That's not what I meant!" Cadence said, smacking his abs as he kissed up the side of her neck, adding bites and marks whenever and wherever he deemed fit... which was usually when he made her laugh, because he loved the sound.
God, the last few hours were... actually fun. Katsuki had never laughed so much while being intimate, and he'd never been so fucking happy the morning after. They talked—fuck, so much talking—about everything under the sun: future vacations and where they wanted to go (first a tropical island far away from the rest of society), tentative career plans for the both of them (Katsuki's possible return to heroism and Cade's plans for a music education degree kept them talking for a while), and even how many kids he wanted (zero, but maybe one wouldn't be so bad) versus how many kids she wanted (a minimum of four), but they could work out the details later. Katsuki wasn't sure he'd ever smiled so much in his whole damn life.
Usually he ran away after any kind of intimacy, slipping out while his partner slept or when they were in the shower or while they ran out to get them breakfast, always making stupid excuses and lying to keep everyone at arm's length; because, he reasoned, why hang around if he already got what he wanted out of it?
But this—Cadence among the silky sheets, her bubbling laugh, her midnight eyes, her feather-light touch, her satin-soft lips—he couldn't imagine himself anywhere else. He wanted to stay in this warm, safe, happy bubble for the rest of his damn life, even if he'd never willingly admit that out loud.
Katsuki growled a laugh against her skin before playfully nipping at the pulse in her neck, flicking his crimson gaze up to watch Cade's expression soften, to see her eyes meet his. "I know that, dingus," he confessed, pressing a brief kiss to the mark he left on her throat. "I just like seeing you all flustered and shit."
"Gross," she smiled, pecking him on the forehead as a distraction.
It worked like a charm. Katsuki's cheeks flushed, eyes widening at the unfamiliar gentle touch, and Cade used his surprise and relaxed muscles as an opportunity to free herself from his grasp. She danced across the hotel room floor, one thigh-high sock on, smirking at him with her clothes held up to cover her nudity. "Actually, Kat... Shower?" she asked.
