Your P.O.V:
Your mood had been fairly somber lately, and it hadn't been turned up by anything, not even Yato's usual silly antics. Unfortunately, it wasn't just you that your mood effected, it was everyone.
You, Yato, and Yukine strolled through the silent streets of the city. The only sound that was apparent to you was the sound of rain tapping on the streets.
"Where are we going again?" Yukine spoke up, as you shifted the umbrella shielding you all.
"I'm not telling either of you." Yato slightly teased, the corners of his mouth turning up.
There's the Yato we know.
You thought, as a smile barely peaked upon your face.
You caught Yukine looking at you, and instead of blushing and turning away as he usually did, he smiled back.
Your heart rate shot up as he did this, and your cheeks warmed up.
"W-why are you staring at me?" You stuttered.
"Because, you've been sad lately, and all I've wanted is for you to be happy." He cheerfully said, grabbing the umbrella from your hand.
You blushed even more, looking away from him.
"You guys are disgusting." Yato said ruffling your hair, as you turned down a familiar path.
Your mood suddenly took a sharp turn, as you realized where you were going.
Without saying anything, you simply turned around, and walked away from a stunned Yato and Yukine.
"Where are you going?" Yato asked, as rain touched your now vulnerable head, drenching you.
"I'm not going there, and you can't make me." You angrily said beginning to walk even faster.
You felt a hand on your shoulder, attempting to stop you.
You swiftly turned around, your anger allowing tears to fall.
"I don't want to go to that damned river! I don't want to see where I died, I don't want to see that stupid flip flop, I just want to be alive!!!" You screamed, collapsing to the ground and sobbing.
As soon as you fell, someone else fell with you.
"Stop it, (Y/n)." Yukine demanded, glaring at you.
"No! All I want is to be alive, and you just want me to accept the fact that I'm dead!" You screamed at him, beginning to stand up and walk away.
He grabbed your wrist, restricting you from getting away.
"You know what you're doing, (Y/n). I did the same exact thing, and I almost killed Yato. Do you want to do that? Hurt everyone around you?" You looked at him, your frantic rage beginning to simmer down. Yato was flinching behind the both of you, due to the cause of your blight.
He gripped your shoulders, and shook you, forcing you to pay attention to him.
"Do you want to hurt me..? " His eyes looked wounded when he asked that question.
You sighed, and wiped away the dried tears staining your cheeks.
"I don't want to hurt you, Yukine.." You whispered, now feeling guilty that you may have hurt him.
"You're my best friend, I would.. I would never.." you stuttered, finding it quite difficult to come up with a cover for your actual feelings. He'd done it again, he did something just for you.
In all actuality, the moment you met Yukine, you'd fallen in love with him. Yeah, he was your best friend, but he'd literally done everything for you. He wanted to help you find your past even when he knew this would happen. He stayed with you when he had your nightmare, and he cheered you up when we you were sad.
Yeah, Yukine was your best friend. But you couldn't help it. Every time you caught sight of his sunset hues or his golden locks, you heart beat a million miles per second, and no one else made you feel that way.
He was the only person who understood you, and how you felt. He knew how to help you, how to help you find what you wanted most, which was your past.
Yukine scrunched his eyebrows in confusion, as you never finished your sentence.
"Yukine..." You whispered his name, your hand falling on top of his, and your eyes getting lost in his.
"What is it..?" He asked, his familiar blush appearing.
You looked back to Yato, he was grasping his wrist, which appeared to be the blighted area.
He knew how you felt, and there's no doubt he wouldn't allow you and Yukine to be together.
So, you went with your best instinct. You looked back to Yukine, hugging him around his shoulders instead.
"Its.. it's nothing. I'm sorry for acting like that.."
