I walk into the local cafe and my eyes scan the room until I spot my friends. I smile and wave as I walk over to Natasha and Steve.

"Hey guys."

"Y/n!" Nat stands and carefully wraps her arms around me. "I haven't seen you in so long."

Bucky and I moved out. Our last night at the compound was the night before our wedding. We've been living in our new home ever since we came back from our honeymoon (touring Italy).

"I know. I missed you guys."

Steve hugs me too. "Just you today?"

"Yeah, Bucky's keeping house. I think he's doing a bit of painting in the nursery."

"Oh."

"You sound disappointed. Would you rather have me stay at home next time?"

"No, of course not. I'd rather have you both here together."

"Yes. Especially today" Nat adds. "We have news to share."

"Ooh yes, you told me on the phone. What is it?"

"Well" Nat smiles. She glances at Steve who smiles back at her. She looks at me and shows me her hand.

"Oh my god!" I exclaim.

"We're getting married!" Nat clarifies.

Natasha and Steve got together at my wedding. It was a classic 'maid of honour and best man hook up' situation. I'm happy for them. I'm also relieved they finally got together. I always knew it was going to happen.

"That's amazing, you guys" I tell them. "Congratulations."

"And y/n, I was wondering, will you be my maid of honour?" Nat asks.

I grin widely. "Of course I will."

"And when you tell Bucky..." Steve sighs. "He'll tell you that he's my best man."

I laugh. That sounds like him.

"But also" Natasha speaks again. "We have some bad news."

"What is it?"

Nat thins her lips. "No kids."

"What?" I moan. "You expect me to find a sitter?"

"Hey don't complain. We've given you notice."

"That reminds me, how far along are you?" Steve queries.

I look down and place my hand on my stomach. I smile. "Eight months."

"Ooh it's getting close" Nat smiles.

"I know, I can't wait."

"How's Bucky feeling?"

"He's so excited. He is an amazing father and he is so ready for this baby."

"Have you got a name yet?"

"Yes... but it's a surprise."

"Oh, boo" Steve jokes.

"I'm sorry. I promised Bucky I wouldn't tell anyone."

"We're your best friends!" Nat argues. "We don't count as anyone."

I roll my eyes and stand up.

"Where are you going?"

"Ice cream" I point at the sundaes on the menu.

Pregnant women get cravings. I crave ice cream. All the time.

I reach the counter and order. I'm about to hand over my card when Steve appears by my side and gives the cashier his card instead. "It's on me" he smiles.
