Frantically running through her kitchen Azariah slipped her sandals on and opened the back door
As she was closing the door behind her she looked infront of her and saw her mother standing there with her arm's crossed
"Aren't you supposed to be doing the dishes right now?" Her mom's eyebrow was raised and she spoke slowly as she stood in her scrubs
The girl's eye widened and she closed the door. "Uh I did them already mom." She was looking everywhere but at her mom and her voice went quiet
When she stopped talking, her mom gestured for Azariah to come inside with her. The teen dropped her bag on the couch once she got inside and waited for mom to yell at her
But she didn't. Instead she walked to the kitchen and came back with a, banana? Yeah a banana
The girl expected a scowl and mean tone from her mom but the woman softly smiled and handed her the fruit
"I'm guessing you didn't eat so I want you to eat this. Azariah we've been over this." A little sigh left her lips and her daughter slumped her shoulders
Azariah had tried to sneak out a few times last summer but this time she felt really bad. With her disease she knew that her mother must've been really stressed
And sneaking out probably didn't ease that stress
But Deja wasn't talking about that. She gave the teen a serious look and huffed
"You have got to eat before you go places. It gives you energy in general, but especially with what's happening to your body right now. Please remember to eat before you anywhere."
Once she was done speaking she walked over to her counter and began sifting through the papers and bills she had. That's when she noticed her daughter taking her shoes off and going to sit down
"Uh sweetie, why are you sitting down?"
She knew why her daughter was sitting, but she just wanted to have a little fun "You don't wanna be late to you're little hangout do you?"
Immediately the girl jumped up and ran to hug her mom
As she pulled back with a big smile on her face she double checked "Wait, so what I'm hearing is that I can go?" Her tone made her sound confused
Even though she wasn't. Deja laughed and nodded "Yeah honey you may go. I never said you couldn't, did I."
"Yesohmygoshthankyousomuchmom!!!" Azariah's words were very fast paced and all jumbled together because of this. But her mom didn't mind
She was just happy that her daughter was happy and going to go have fun
The girl smiled and frantically ran to get her shoes and bag
She made it to the door before turning back and seeing her mother stand with a raised eyebrow
Azariah knew it was about her forgetting to grab and or eat her banana
So she snatched it off the couch and opened the back door dashing out of her home
"Yes I know I need to eat!!" Her shouted words began fading as she was riding away on her bike
