Another story within another anime universe I have is one with sea life and singing. Mermaid Melody, the Other Mermaids. It is clear there are more mermaids then just the 7 princesses of the 7 seas in Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch. So there should be more mermaids out there carrying their own pearl necklaces that allow them to sing. So that's why I have created Kaiyo, a girl who lives with her father and friends in the seaside town of Gold Sand. She later learns her late mother was a mermaid, inheriting her pearl necklace, and must take on the duty to fight against evil that lurks in the deepest depths. The story is just as simple as Mermaid Melody. Kaiyo balances her life living on a seaside town with her father and step family while keeping the mermaid thing a secret from everyone else. She is assisted by Mikata, her step sister who treats her well and helps her determine things to fight against enemies. There's also Croco and Kelp, a sea turtle and seahorse who were close friends with Kaiyo' mother, and much like Hippo the penguin they serve as Kaiyo's guide, teaching her the basics since she knew nothing of it all until now. It may not be as big as my other magical girl animes with it being simple, but it's got plenty of sea based action.

The enemy Kaiyo facess is Nanbasen, a mermaid turned bad and her mother's evil sister. What she wants is Kaiyo's necklace, and there is in fact a story behind it all. The reason why she turned evil was because she grew jealous when she lost her chance into inheriting the necklace after her sister had a child. And that resulted into Kaiyo's mother to sacrifice herself to protect her love and child and Nanbasen to turn ordinary sea creatures into monsters. So in other words, Kaiyo and her comrades are up against her evil aunt who stops at nothing to get what she wants, even if it means sacrifice. She's not sadistic or violent, but she's cold as the arctic ice.

If you're into mermaids, you will love this seaside story. It's just as magical as the story of the 7 mermaid princesses and it goes to show a simple mermaid can have just as much fun.
