Chapter 74: BFFs and PDA

XI had changed into the skirt and top that Rukia had brought me, keeping Lilynette's hoodie since the top's sleeves were too short to cover the bruises, and tucked the other borrowed clothes into the bag that Rukia had brought. I planned to wash everything and return it all to Coyote the next time that I saw him. Rangiku and Rukia had gone on ahead, and when I left the washroom and went back to join everyone, I found that the others had arrived, as well. I was so focused on getting back to Grimmjow and taking my seat that I didn't notice someone else approaching them, and I bumped right into them.
"I'm sorry!" I hurriedly apologized, looking up to see who I had accosted.
My eyes met with a sight that sent chills down my spine: cold, deep pools of vivid green set into a pale, emotionless visage that was so smooth it was like marble. He looked down his nose at me, lifting a hand to brush his pitch-black hair back into place. Last time, I had been so grateful not to have earned his attention. And this time, I was wilting beneath his icy stare. My breath was caught in my throat. My heart was hammering in my chest. But he seemed entirely unfazed by the way I'd slammed into him. His piercing gaze raked up and down my trembling form, assessing me. And then, with only a soft click of his tongue, he turned and walked away. He didn't even spare me a second glance.
I let out the breath that I had been holding, eagerly taking another one in as my body un-froze, happy to be out from underneath that penetrating glare. I got such bad vibes from him. I was just glad that he hadn't killed me for bumping into him. He did seem like the kind of person to just dispose of anyone who crossed him or got on his nerves. And getting bumped into was annoying... I shuddered, looking up to see that no one else had even noticed my near-death experience. I made a conscious effort to shake it off, flexing my fingers and wiggling my joints. But I still waited until Ulquiorra Cifer (I shuddered just thinking his name) had gotten Grimmjow and the others' attention and they'd all gone to their meeting before I got the courage to go and sit down.
"Hey, Pink!" Renji called out to me excitedly, already scooting over to make room for me.
The loveseat that I'd been sharing with Grimmjow and Coyote was left empty, but I decided that I'd rather sit with Renji and Shuuhei, given that I was still shaken and it would feel better than sitting alone. "Hey, Red!"
"Hey, wifey." Shuuhei grinned, giving me a wink.
I settled in between them, smiling when Shuuhei turned to kiss my cheek. "Hey, hubby."
"You guys have some weird nicknames." Ikkaku was watching us with narrowed eyes and an arched brow.
"We had ours first." Renji grumbled, looking at Shuuhei with a glare.
And I just giggled, feeling my earlier apprehension melt away so easily now that I was with my friends. "Hey, Ikkaku, Yumi, would you guys wanna stay at my place tonight?" I wanted to ask them about some things, and I figured they were due for another sleepover.
Yumichika gave me a dashing smile. "Of course, little sis. We need some bonding time, anyway."
Ikkaku just shrugged. "Sure, whatever."
I grinned, looking forward to a night of chatting with Yumichika and Ikkaku.
"By the way..." Shuuhei's arm draped around my shoulders and he tugged me closer to him. "Don't think I didn't see that suggestive comment you left on Renji's photo."
I stiffened, feeling the blush rush to my face.
"Leave her alone!" Renji snapped, looping his arm around my waist to pull me toward him and away from Shuuhei.
