Chapter 65: Skipping School

Grimmjow had stayed up late again. But he did wake up enough to tell me "love ya, babe" when I kissed him goodbye for the morning. He had agreed to get the doors on my house fixed while I was at school today. So I reminded him that he needed to be awake for that and he grumbled an agreement.

I barely managed to drag myself down the stairs and outside to where my friends were waiting. And Rukia was there. I had forgotten all about Rukia! What would she say about our plan?!

"Just shut up and get in the car!" Ichigo was shouting at her.

"We'll drop you off, so stop complaining." Shuuhei was grumbling as he meandered over to the driver's seat.

Everyone looked so tired. We'd all had such a rough day, after all.

"But you guys can't just skip school!" Rukia was shouting right back at them.

"Will you pipe down before someone hears you?!" Ichigo had such a cranky look on his face. He grabbed her and shoved her into the back seat before sliding in beside her. "It's none of your business what we do!"

"Come on, wifey!" Shuuhei called to me as he opened the door behind his and took his place in the driver's seat.

I hurried over to my side behind him, thanking him for opening the door. It was weird having the seat to myself, since Renji had stayed at his own house last night after taking the van with all of our equipment back there.

"Juna, you can't be seriously going along with this?!" Rukia was still shouting as she turned her wrathful eyes on me.

Chad had gotten into the car as well and Shuuhei was already driving.

"Rukia..." I tried not to make eye contact, fearing the same Kuchiki stare that Mr. Kuchiki had used to get Kenpachi off of my property the day before. "...this is important to us. We want to make sure that we're ready for tonight."

"Tch. Please." She scoffed, rolling her eyes so heavily that her head rolled as well. "Playing at that silly night club is nothing."

"It's something to us!" I snapped back at her, frustrated that she was blowing off something that we cared so much about.

"You've never even been inside, you sheltered little brat." Shuuhei grunted from the front seat.

"If you don't understand something, you should just keep your mouth shut about it." Even Ichigo was grumbling at her.

Rukia slumped back into her seat and crossed her arms firmly over her chest. "You guys don't have to be such jerks." She mumbled under her breath.

We managed to drop her off at school without further argument. And then we stopped at the café before heading to Renji's house. I'd been sure to order his favorite drink, a vanilla latte. I'd really taken a liking to the mocha frappuccino that Shuuhei had introduced me to, so I'd been ordering those lately. I held them both carefully as we made our way past the shop and into Renji's house. Mr. Urahara greeted us all warmly, as if we were old friends, as he sent us through.

"Hey, guys." Renji yawned as he walked into the living room to meet us, still wearing his pajamas.

"Well don't you look comfy." Shuuhei chuckled, going past him and to the adjoining garage.

"Here." I walked up to Renji, handing him his latte.

Renji blinked, slowly taking the warm drink from my hand. "You got this for me?"
