I discovered a new platform, Spirit - Fanfiction and Stories.
In short, it is brazilian Wattpad with AO3's tag and search system, at least similar to it.
I decided to give it a try and here are my first impressions. Closer 'reviews', aka negative and positive chapters, will follow in a few weeks.
My first impression was, considering the company behind it not a surprise, most of the interface is in Portuguese.
After I changed my reading language, some parts of the interface changed to English.
The Portuguese bits don't really bother me. First of all, I'm learning Spanish, some words are similar to Spanish, some words are even similar to English and German. So it doesn't really bother me.
I had issues to verify my email, I won't get the email to verify. But a day later, it came.
I'm pleasantly surprised that Spirit has 'covers' as well. They recommend a 600×400 ratio, but I just use my Wattpad covers. Maybe I experiment with this ratio, but only if I stick to Spirit.
Something that is a bit annoying, when I reposted a fic of mine on there, I couldn't do drafts. I had to post it instantly.
But all in all, the word processor isn't bad. Reminds me of AO3's rich text field.
Reading, I have yet to actively read on there, but I discovered it has reading lists, 2 fics can be read offline, archived. Very Wattpad.
It has ads, but they are less annoying that Wattpad.
The fic quality seems to be lower on there... but that may because I haven't.explored much. And English isn't the main focus of the app, so that's that.
I will, if I stick to Spirit, probably check out the Spanish stuff for language practice.
I take Spanish lessons and our teacher said we should practice reading and listening via Spanish media.
I got my English grade from failing to top with Fanfiction, so who says I can't do the same with Spanish? (Any Spanish recs?)
The dark mode is not behind a pay wall and you can freely choose the color accents. I choose dark red, because of course I did.
