Chapter 8 The Will Of A Dragon.

Prince Huri Grandeur

Staring out at the sky, I was completely through with today. Father had me following Sir Himlon around like a lost puppy and I am over it. I'm the prince, I shouldn't have to play second fiddle to a knight. Even though I do respect Sir Himlon for his devotion to the kingdom as the High Knight Commander of the Royal guard, I did not want to follow him around all day. I knew there had to be more to life than this. I'm 18, I have been an adult for a few years now surely father could trust me with more than just guard duties.

"Crowned Prince Huri your majesty would like an audience with you." My personal servant Carnegie said as he stood erect at the door. I didn't even have to turn around to know who was there. He's the only one that comes into my quarters without announcing himself first. It's something he has done since we were children. If he was anybody else I would've cut his head off for barging in like he did.

"Tell him I'll be there, I'll need a few minutes to take this armor off" I said with a huff. I've been following Himlon around in the blistering sun all day and now this. I was getting tired of this foolishness. I was just with father in the drawing room not even 20 minutes ago, what could he possibly want now.

"That won't be necessary, Your majesty said it was urgent" Carnegie relayed annoying me even further.

Let father tell it everything is urgent until you get there and realize it was something that a regular knight could've handled, instead of me the Crowned Prince and member of the royal guard. I wanted in on the real action, and patrolling the kingdom was not cutting it. He won't give me the crown yet but won't even give me any real responsibilities in the kingdom. How will I be able to prove myself if he never give me a chance? I'm sure I could change his mind if he just gave me a chance.

"Fine." I said exhaling leaving out of my quarters.

I could hear Carnegie footsteps following behind me as I made my way. I was so used to him being there it didn't bother me not one bit. The clinging of my armor as I walked annoyed me more anything. The walk there was quick and rather silent, I was not in the mood for conversation.

I needed to get my head together for my proposal to my father. Surely he will hear me out? I knew why he was acting the way he was but that was years ago. I was still a child I've grown since then. Shaking my head at myself, I sighed. I knew better than anyone that my father was a stubborn man, who doesn't listen nor hear people out.

What he said was law and no further discussion is expected to be had or you'll find yourself facing consequences of punishment or even death. My father has killed many advisors and quite a few prime ministers going against his word. I was no different, son or no son. He ruled with fear anything less was unacceptable. Even still I will speak my peace today no matter what.

I was determined to get outside of the kingdom walls. Walking up to my fathers study the guards opened the doors for me to pass through. I seen my father, Sir Himlon, three advisors and Prime Minister Gerng, they were sitting at the long table discussing something that looked rather serious by the look on their faces. Going by my fathers side I stood erect as I bowed in greeting.

"Sire " I said then nodded a greeting to everyone else there, getting nods in return.

"Aaaah Huri, just the person I was looking for. I know you just got in from patrol so I will make this quick. You will be going with Himlon on a hunt to find Budzen, lord of the dark realm. It was said that he was spotted around here recently and if that's so I want him removed permanently immediately." My father said all in one breath banging on the table sitting up in his seat.

"I will not stand for him to come and go on my land as he please without consequences. If I allow him to do it more and more of those beast will think they can. I want you to go with Himlon and a few other men from the Royal guard and see what you can find. If you find anyone from the dark realm that's not Budzen kill them. I'll take heads as proof." He said relaxing back in his seat.
