Fiore

"It is already been settled unless you are admitting you are no match for these other ladies?" The King questioned.

"That's not what she's saying. She can definitely handle this challenge" Huri said for me.

I couldn't find the words to say, I didn't want to fight because I didn't want to kill them. How to say I'm too strong without offending anyone? I knew if I was to say that they would think I was thinking too highly of myself. I was just a slave in their eyes. Shit.

"Well then. Tonight after dinner they will battle. Everyone here will watch. Fiore can't use any weapons whereas the others will have weapons. All can use their magic. It's a fight to the death, only way out alive is to win. The winner will be your betrothed. Any objections?" The King questioned looking to the Duke who nodded in agreement.

They then turned to who I assume was Valerie and an older woman. They both nodded in agreement as well. The younger of the two walked up to me.

"Don't expect me to go easy because you are weak" she said as she continued past me making sure to bump me on the way.

I was stuck, did they really not know the danger they were in? As much as I didn't want to kill them I will if it come down to my own life. My scales aren't ready so I had to protect myself by any means necessary. Beside if I even allowed myself to lose my dragons would burn this place down and that's the last thing I wanted them to do. The people of the kingdom don't deserve that. I couldn't leave them and if that meant killing them than so be it. I could feel myself being pulled away without me being able to say anything more to the king.

"Excuse us" I heard Huri say as he pulled me out of the hall.

Turning around I could see Himlon following us with his eyes. He gave me a nod of reassurance, the calmness of his body was making me calm myself. Maybe this wouldn't be that bad. Following Huri he took me into an empty room slamming the door behind us.

"What the fuck? Why would you say that?" He questioned as he started pacing around the room.

"Someone had to say something. You just stood there as they insulted me, after pulling me into this." I said with attitude. Nobody asked him to include me in this.

"You should've kept your mouth shut. What were you thinking telling him you can use magic when we all can feel that's not the truth. Lying will only get you killed. I know now you are sure to die." He said angrily.

"It's not a lie I can use magic. All forms at will. I don't use my magic for the sake of keeping away from trouble yet here it is you pulled me in and now have the nerve to have an attitude? How dare you?" I said walking toward the door. I was over this. I wasn't about to stand here getting yelled at about something I wanted no part of anyway. Prince or not. I didn't come here for this shit.

"Where are you going? Huh?" He asked grabbing me.

"To tell the King I changed my mind. They can have you. I only did this because of Himlon don't get it twisted." I said with just as much attitude.

Forgetting where I am as my dialect was slipping back to where I was from. He was pissing me off trying to act like I'm the problem. All I was trying to do was save face for him. Now I'm the bad guy, the nerve of him.

"Twisted? No what will be twisted is your neck when you're dead after this battle. You think he will just accept a casual I changed my mind from you? He would kill you on the spot for wasting his time. So go be my guest." He said throwing his hands in the air.

I stood there for a moment. He did have a point. The King seemed very cold from the first time I've met him.

"Can't you see he's setting you up to die, your nothing but a slave. He would never allow me to be with you." Huri said pacing.
