It was a cold fall morning, the wind was whipping against the windows of the castle . It had been a few days since school officially started, and you felt at home with your new friends by your side. You, Pansy, Draco, and Blaise were sitting together in the Great Hall eating breakfast. You were eating Belgium waffles with strawberries on the side, when you saw the owls start to come in with mail.
"Malfoy, what's your first class this morning?" Blaise asked nonchalantly.
"Potions with Professor Snape, you?" Draco replied smugly.
"Charms with Flitwick, ugh I was hoping we would have first class together." Blaise whined.
"Hey Malfoy, I have potions first too. Do you want to be partners?" You asked softly.
Right before Draco could answer you a owl dropped a letter on the table in front of you. Your heart dropped. From Tiffany Emerson. Your mom must have found out that got sorted into Slytherin. Your definitely done for now. You opened the letter carefully.
Dear y/n,
How dare you disobey me! You are a disgrace to the Emerson name. Slytherin?!? Really? You were supposed to be in Ravenclaw. I bet you did this on purpose you ungrateful bitch. Don't bother coming home for Christmas. I don't want to see you or have you in my presence. I can't believe you would openly go against my wishes. This is the reason your father left, because you are a good for nothing daughter.
Your eyes started to tear up. Your own mother called you an ungrateful bitch. You throat began to feel tight and your eyes started to burn. You wanted to run, but you were frozen.
"Y/n are you ok?" Pansy asked worriedly. Tears started to fall from your eyes. You dropped the letter and ran. You didn't know where you would go, but you ran until you couldn't anymore.
Draco's POV:
Y/n read her letter and looked like she was going to cry. What happened to her? Who was the letter from? A million questions ran through my head. I heard Pansy ask her if she was ok, then she started to cry and ran out of the hall. She dropped her letter in the table, so I decided to pick it up and read it. I felt horrible. Her mother called her unspeakable things. I decided to go after her.
I got up from the table and ran out of the hall after y/n. I followed the sound of her cries, and went up the stairs to the astronomy tower. I peaked past the doorway at the top of the stairs to see her, holding her knees devastated, she was a mess. I walked over and sat next to her, hugging her and playing with her hair. I held her while she cried.
"It'll be ok y/n, I promise..." I reassured her softly. For a moment I forgot about the person I was, the person my parents wanted to be. In that moment, I was just worried about her. She looked cold so I wrapped my cloak around her while comforting her. Her cries got softer as she dug her head into my chest.
"Thank you for being here for me...you don't have to do this you know. I probably look silly." Y/n whimpered.
"It's alright, I'd rather be here then potions. You don't look silly y/n, I understand. That was cruel of her to say" I assured her. I continued to hold her until she calmed down. I hated seeing her like this.

3rd Person POV
It started to get rather chilling up in the Astronomy tower as the day went on. Y/n was asleep on Draco's lap, while he read The Catcher in the Rye. The wind was softly blowing, brushing across their faces like an artist's brush on canvas. The sun was coming down from high noon, shining it's light into y/n's eyes. As she started to wake up she felt Draco's cold hands entangled in her hair. Y/n smiled softly at Draco, thanking him for staying with her.
"We've already missed majority of our classes, do you want to just skip the rest of the day? I have something else we could do" Draco offered to Y/n, not taking his eyes off his book.
"Sure, what do you have in mind?" Y/n questioned excitedly.
"You'll see, I'm sure you'll enjoy it." Draco responded smugly. They headed down the Astronomy tower steps, then walked out towards the quidditch pitch. Draco sat Y/n down, and walked into the storage room bringing out two brooms and a golden snitch.
"First one to catch the snitch wins, are you in?" Draco asked, a smile creeping across his face.
"You are on Malfoy!" Y/n declared, kicking off the ground on her broom.
Draco released the snitch and the both started bolting after it. They chased the snitch and each other all around the pitch. At one point they even ran into each other and started laughing uncontrollably. It was at the moment, Y/n caught sight of the snitch, barrel rolled on her broom and grabbed it. They both landed on the ground still laughing.
"How does it feel to lose Malfoy?" Y/n teased, a victorious look on her face.
"Don't be silly Y/n, I could've won if I wanted to, I let you win" Draco sputtered out, looking at the castle.
"You don't have to admit Malfoy, but I won fair and square just so you know" Y/n told Malfoy, a satisfied look on her face.

Draco's POV
We walked into the great hall just in time for dinner, heading for the two empty, open spots at the Slytherin table. We sat down and began to eat, but Y/n looked a lot better. I was glad, I don't know why, I cared for her more than my other friends. Once we finished up dinner we headed with Pansy and Blaise to the Slytherin dormitory, said good night, and I headed off to bed.
I laid there, under the dark green sheets of my bed, wondering why I went after her. My parents would be furious if they knew I skipped class. Something about her was different. She was kind and ambitious, always did well in her classes, at least from what I have seen.
This girl is going to be the death of me.
