CHAPTER 2 - BLACKOUT.
"HAAAA-" Naphtali sits up. He looks around him, at his surroundings, confused as to where he is. "Uh.. ah.. ghn-" He attempts to get up, but is unable to as a sharp pain hits him in the side of his ribs. "ow-ow-ow..", he grunts. The door opens, and a strange purple figure walks in, hidden by a cloak, also purple. "So, you're finally awake, boy?"
The figure's voice was soothing, calm. It was quiet. Flat, but it sounded nostalgic. To Naphtali, it sounded like home. "Hey! What am- What am I doing here? Who are you? Where are we?" Naphtali attempted to sit up again, but fell back down. "Ugh.." He grunted. "Here.. let me help you." The figure placed its hands on the side of Naphtali, where a large cut was found. The figure magically healed the wound, as it took off its hood.
Beauty. She looked as if you turned the word "beauty" into a person. Light purple, mixed with white, kind of hair. Purple eyes that looked like an ocean. Naphtali couldn't look away. "I'll answer all of your questions.. but first, please eat up." She spawned in a tray of food. It had porridge, with a side of fries. "Oh.. um.." Naphtali didn't hesitate. It felt as if he hadn't eaten food in months. It wasn't even three minutes before the food was gone.
"Do you know your name?" the figure asked. "Naph- Naphtali." He responded, sort of hesitantly. He gasped. "Oh- my kingdom! My village! I have to go back and fight, I must've blacked out! My father.. my sister! My.. My Faolan.." He was slightly tapped back down by the figure. "Settle down.. settle down. Your kingdom is gone. The village, destroyed." She explained. "Wha- What? No! How is that possible? I was only out for-" He was interrupted. "10 months."Naphtali's face went pale. "H-Huh?.." "Don't worry. The civilians escaped somewhere. We've been searching for them. To no avail. You were knocked out by a Golem. You might not trust me, as you don't know anything about me. My name is Viola. My origins.. you're not ready to hear that. I may say I'm multiple centuries old. Believe it, or don't. My point is, you want to protect your kingdom, right? Your village, your people?" She asked. " Y-Yes..!"
".. Our training begins tomorrow, at dawn." She walked out, mysteriously. Naphtali sat and pondered to himself. Everyone must be worried.
The following day.
Naphtali entered through a large set of double doors to see Viola standing, sword in hand. "Welcome, boy. Let's begin right away. No time to waste. We have to end this war as soon as possible." She pointed toward a stone with a sword dug inside of it. "Pull the sword out with sheer strength, and I'll consider you worthy of my time." Naphtali stepped toward the stone, slowly, and cautiously. He gripped the sword with two hands, and ..
"HAAAAA!" He screamed as he pulled the sword out, and wielded it in his hands. Viola smiled. Just then, Naphtali noticed the height difference. Viola was at least 9 feet tall. How was he supposed to defeat her in sparring? "Boy.. come at me." Naphtali charged toward the tall figure, and slashed at her. She was able to dodge and jump over every one of his attacks. Viola grabbed Naphtali by his collar. She lifted him and threw him against a nearby pillar. Naphtali was already out of breath. "He-Hey.. I think I don-" He didn't get to finish. She threw him against another pillar. "Do you think, in a real fight, your opponent will give you time to BREATHE? I TOLD YOU, COME AT ME!" Naphtali's eye opened wide. "G.. GRA.. GRAHHHH!" He screamed loudly. It was a piercing, screeching noise. There was blue, glowing around him and his body. He looked up, as his entire body was glowing blue, head to toe. He was outside of his own body, almost. He charged at Viola, screaming. Viola hit back, and-
"Ug-.. Ugh.." He woke up in the same arena he was just in. He blacked out.. again. "You did well, boy." She healed his wounds and took him out of the room.
For the next 1 and a half years, Viola acted as a mother for Naphtali. They became family. Closer than he had ever been with anyone. Viola fed him, made him drinks, celebrated two of his birthdays, helped him train, and taught him life lessons, and how to kill in a real situation. This continued until 1293. That year, something had changed. For the worse.
Naphtali had woken up to the sound of his father, and Faolans voices. He had never been more excited. He must've woken up before his mother- or, Viola, as she wasn't there to feed him breakfast. He sprinted down the steps of the grand hall, as if it were Christmas morning. "FATHER! FAOLAN!!" he cheered happily, running down. He jumped down the balcony, as he couldn't wait any longer. "I MISSED YOU GUYS SO MU-" he was interrupted.. not by Viola this time, but by a horrible sight.
A dagger had been put through Viola. On the other side? His father.
"No.. what.. what's going on?" He stumbled and ran to Viola's side. "Mom.. Viola.. what happened? This is just another one of your laughs, right? It is.. isn't it?" He looked up at her face, blue blood pouring out of her mouth. "Boy.. Naphtali. I loved you like my son. In the past 18 months, you-" She fell onto her back. "You've grown.. into a real man. You're.. You- You're more powerful.. than you.. imagine." A single tear rolled down her cheek. "I.. I-I loved yo-" A sharp noise happened. A stab through her chest by his father, again.
He stood up from the floor. "Okay.. let's get Naphtali back. Wher- ah! My son! How long it's been! Come give your old father a hug-" Naphtali backed away. "Son?.." Naphtali took a deep breath. "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?! YOU KILLED VIOLA- YOU- YOU'RE A MONSTER!!" He wailed, sobbing. "Son, she was a Holy Stone! They're evil! Friends of the Devils!" He shouted "NO! NOT ALL OF THEM! NOT VIOLA!! YOU TOOK HER AWAY FROM ME! I'LL NEVER.. " Interrupted, again. By Faolan. "Naphtali, listen! She was evil!" "NO! YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND! YOU NEVER DID! YOU NEVER CARED ABOUT ME!" He shouted. "I'LL.. NEVER.. FORGIVE YOU!" He roared, like a monster. His voice 20x deeper. He opened his eyes, and his father noticed there was no longer even a pupil. His son had become a Holy Stone in the past 18 months. Naphtali glowed.
He had to kill his son. Faolan, had to kill his love. His heart.
"GRRAAAAAAAAH!"
