CHAPTER 11 - DEAR DIARY

Dear Diary,

It has been many years since I wrote this. I find it strange to look back and see how everything I knew about my life has changed. It feels like that day was.. an old me. The new me was when I woke up with the Holy Stones. I know I mention my family in that last entry, but they aren't really my family. The Holy Stones are my family. I have lost three of them. I won't lose more. I'll make sure of that. I also mentioned Eden in that. That spear I threw.. It wasn't meant to hit her. She was mostly innocent. Part of me feels guilty. But I have to rid of that feeling. Tens of thousands of innocent people are going to die today. It is my fault. I will have to destroy all of Kraghon. Every friend I ever had. If push comes to shove, I'll have to destroy .. everything.

He crossed that last line out. He didn't want it to come to that.

I notice there's a part of the diary ripped out. I can't remember what it said, but I only see one word. "Attack". I can't remember any attack I could have mentioned. I cant even remember what happened on that day, past my father getting coronated.

I don't have long left. I will die today. I haven't seen the future or anything. I haven't checked. I'm leaving this day up to faith. I just have a feeling today won't end well for me. It's most likely my last day on this planet. While I'm still here, I may at least talk about my thoughts. I miss my mother. I really do.

Naphtali stops writing for a second, and gets up from his chair. He takes a step outside and sees no guards. He sneaks into his father's old room, which was normally locked when he was alive. It seems to be unlocked now. He rummages through his father's old drawers. Some weapons, books, normal things you'd see. He finds a box covered with dust. He brings it back to his room and sits down to open it. He sits in front of his desk and opens the box. What he finds inside is.. a picture. It's layed down on its front, so he can't see what's on it. He takes it out of the box and flips it around.

It's a family picture. Naphtali is there. So are Cecilia, Eros, and.. "Viola? .." Naphtali covers his mouth. In the top right corner, there's a note. "My dear Naphtali. If you were to find this one day, I must tell you all of the secrets of Kraghon. Your father is planning to kill me. I am escaping today. I am a Holy Stone, and I can see you'll arrive in my arms one day. I know I'll have to pass my powers onto you. I will always be a part of you. I will always love you. No matter what happens.

Love, Viola." Tears drop from Naphtali's eyes onto the dusty picture. His mother really was Viola. It makes sense why she wasn't around all these years, and why his father said she was dead. She was a Holy Stone. He looked up to see he was in another memory. He turned around and saw a woman, in this exact room. She was holding a baby in her hands. He walked up to her and kneeled. He saw it was Viola, holding him. Cecilia was there, too. She fell asleep on Viola's shoulder. He started tearing up. This was his real family. How could he have forgotten this? He tried to hug her, but it faded away in his arms. From thin air, a dagger was made. It started floating down into his hands. He looked at the back of it, to see if it said anything. All it said was "Viola". He wiped the tears from his eyes and went back to his desk to continue writing.

I feel guilty. I am faking being Faolan's friend. But I must, for my new family. I'll do anything for them. Rem, my love. I'm sorry about what happened to you. It is partially my fault. I will see you soon. Father, don't be mad. I did what I had to. Cecilia, you're my dear sister. I have no harsh feelings toward you. Ruth, you were my best friend. Aku, you were like a sister to me. Euryale.. I hope you die tonight.

Commander Lilith, .. you're quite mysterious. Eden, I'm sorry. We weren't meant to be. Faolan, I loved you. I have to do what is best for everyone. Mom. I hope I see you soon. I love you. You were the only thing that got me through life.
