Chapter 14 ~ Prom + Epilogue

Finally, it was prom. Albedo was standing outside the auditorium, watching the other groups of friends and couples walk in. Lisa made him stand out here but he would have anyway. Kaeya was supposed to meet him here yet he was late.

"Hey Bedo!" Noelle waved at him. She was wearing a white knee length dress with thin straps. 2 translucent elbow length sleeves made with small pink and red roses embroidered on them and the bottom of the skirt along with gold accents. A gold belt secured the waistline of the dress and black high heeled boots with chains and buckles on them covered her feet. Holding her hand was a very shy Barbara, wearing a matching dress but light blue and with stars instead of roses and white heels instead of boots.

"I assume you 2 are enjoying yourselves?" Albedo raised his eyebrows as Barbara huddled up to Noelle.

"Oh please, Bedo. We haven't even gone into the auditorium."

"Then I won't be any hindrance to your night. Enjoy, ladies." Albedo gave a soft smile as the 2 girls disappeared into the building.

"Having fun blondie?" Kaeya approached him. He took Albedo's gloved hand, bending down and pressing his lips against it. "You look quite like the charmer today."

"Hm. Must thank Ningguang and her impeccable sense of fashion." Albedo gave a sly smile to hide his embarrassment. But Kaeya wasn't wrong. Ningguang had given him a long white coat with gold buttons. Underneath he wore a black turtleneck and a thin silver chain for contrast. Below was baggy jeans secured with the same belt he used on Venti's party and black sneakers. On his hands were plain black fingerless gloves. "You shouldn't doubt your fashion sense however. I will only say this once, tonight, you look hot."

"Oh? Why, I shall cherish this moment." Kaeya smirked as he advanced towards Albedo. He was not wrong in saying this. It was a very loose button up shirt with the buttons on the top undone, exposing the top of his man boobies. A sky blue scarf tied around his waist served the purpose of a belt and a fancy decoration. His lower half was black tights and a pair of leather boots. Kaeya grabbed the blonde's waist and began to toy with his hair.

"We should go in." Albedo grabbed Kaeya's hand and pulled him inside. They immediately headed to their friends, who were sitting aside, not doing anything but talking for now.

"Bedo!" Zhongli waved at him. He looked surprisingly healthier, not so skin and bone anymore. Childe had one of his hands clamped firmly on Zhongli's waist. And yes, he was wearing a dress again. This time, it was a light beige dress that stopped mid calf. There were white, orange, amber, yellow and gold flowers on the waistline and hem of the dress. The 2 thin straps holding up the dress had little pearls stuck on at odd angles. His hair was down and half of it was secured into a little bun at the back of his head with both a glaze lily and cor lapis ornaments. Childe had half of his hair slicked back and was wearing a white and grey blazer on top of a black low cut v neck and had his signature red scarf wrapped around his neck. Except, there was a glaze lily pinned to it. Kaeya pointed it out.

"Oh this? Couple things." Childe chuckled as Zhongli got flustered again.

"Get a room!" Venti yelled at them.

"Oh shush Barbatos. You and Kazuha are doing the same thing!" Zhongli pointed at Venti's earring, which was one of Kazuha's maple leaf earrings that he wore every day. Venti stuck his tongue out at Zhongli.

"So when's the wedding?" Noelle wiggled her eyebrows at Albedo.

"Wedding?" This was the first time Albedo ever thought he got embarrassed. Noelle giggled at him, glancing at Kaeya as she saw his reaction.

"You know~" Gorou joined in the teasing. Zhongli snickered as they continued to tease Albedo. He retaliated by running at them but Kaeya held him back. The rest of the night went by a blur, from Childe proposing to Zhongli to Venti and Kazuha getting drunk and  causing chaos. During that period of time, Kaeya and Albedo escaped to the lab, away from all the chaos. Once there, the 2 males both looked at each other.

"I like you!" They both blurted out at the same time. They stared at one another, speechless. Kaeya regained his composure first and walked up to the blonde. Intending to tease him a bit more, Albedo beat him to it. Grabbing the choker around the taller male's neck, Albedo pulled Kaeya closer to him and their lips met. At an utter loss for words, Kaeya stared wide eyed at the blonde as he pulled away, blushing profusely.

"I honestly have no idea when it started but, I mean what I say. Except to those idiots. So, will you be my-" Albedo got cut off when Kaeya suddenly pulled him close and kissed him again.

"Of course, dummy. Now shut up and kiss me." Kaeya went back at it again and, yes, the 2 made out in a science lab.

Several years later (2 to be exact)

"I now pronounce you, husband and male wife." Venti was standing on a stool, grinning down at a certain ginger and brunette. Albedo and Kaeya were in the crowd, clapping hard for the newlyweds. All of them being too broke to have a proper venue, chose a random field for Zhongli and Childe to get married in. Noelle was next to Albedo, trying not to cry.

"It's okay, he won't leave you." Albedo rubbed her back as Zhongli approached them. Noelle ran to him and hugged her brother tightly.

"I'd never thought that we would live long enough to see at least one of us get married." She sobbed into his shoulder. So that's why she was sad. Zhongli just smiled at her and returned the hug. Barbara was standing behind her, giggling as the white haired girl resumed her position next to her.

"I guess that makes 2 surprises for us." Zhongli brushed her tears away before Childe grabbed him by the arm. Albedo comforted the girl, who just laughed at the scene.

"This is nice." Albedo chuckled as Childe picked Zhongli up in a bridal carry and spun him around.

"I agree." Kaeya came up behind him and leaned on his head. "Wonder when it will be ours?"

"I have no idea." Albedo looked up and came eye to eye with the dark skinned male.

"Guys! The bouquet is being thrown!" Barbara hit the back of Kaeya's head. They both stopped and looked straight forward (unlike themselves). Zhongli had poised his hands above his head and was holding the massive amount of flowers that Childe had given him. He threw it in the air and, to everyone's surprise except Zhongli's, landed in Albedo's arms.

"Well, there's our answer." Albedo chuckled nervously as he turned to face Kaeya. In the corner of his eye, he could see Zhongli silently celebrating. So he had planned this all along. Kaeya blushed lightly before getting down on one knee. Pulling a ring box from the back of his pants, Kaeya opened it.

"Oh what in Lord Barbatos?" Noelle stepped back in shock. Kaeya ignored her and pursued in his quest.

"Albedo, I do not regret bullying you because that gave me a reason to talk to you, even if I didn't recognize my feelings in the beginning. And I have to thank our ex science teacher for making us do the project together. I have never regretted spending any time with you and I would do it a million times over. So, with that said, will you marry me?"

"Do you even need me to answer? But if you want to play it that way, yes!" Albedo ran towards him, almost about to cry. Kaeya nearly lost the ring in his haste to put it on and kiss Albedo. Klee ran up and hugged both of their knees, locking them in position. Zhongli, Gorou, Noelle and Childe all ran up to them and joined the group hug amidst the cheers for the next couple. As it has been and always will be, the dark haired character will find a light in their life.
