Ethan sits on the bed in the bunker, curled around his mom, as they wait for Richard to return. "I can't just sit here and hide." His mother mutters and then she stands, pacing. "I'm going to leave, but you stay right here, my love, and Daddy and I will come and get you."
"Momma, stay please," Ethan begs, but he knows her mind is made up.
"Shush, none of that now, you must be strong." She tells him and he nods, wiping away his tears. She kisses him and then darts out of the room, leaving Ethan alone.
The boy chants her words over and over, but he can't seem to find any comfort in her words. He can feel a pit form in his stomach, that grows larger as he waits for them. Eventually, his anxiety has him leaving the bunker, tiptoeing silently through the ransacked house and to the yard, where he can hear the vicious snarls of the other wolves.
He peeks out the window and sees a flash of white fur dart pass and he knows that was his father. Right behind him, a grey blur zips past and that's his mother. He stares at the scene wide-eyed, blood covering his mother's white roses and yellow tulips.
The fight rages on and then he hears the heartbreaking howl of his mother, and he can feel his heart rip into two. He rushes to the sound uncaring of the fighting, still going on. He feels his heart breaks again and he knows that was his mother, so he howls loudly. Shifting for the first time into his beast, he goes on a rampage, killing anything in his path. Everyone from his pack, backs away and stares at the massacre, a boy no older than eight, has killed a whole rogue army.
Ethan forces the change back, uncaring of his nakedness as he kneels over his parents, tears dripping steadily down his face. "Alpha, we must go." His parent's best friend and his uncle Philippe urge.
He stands, saying one last prayer before moving into Philippe's arms and allowing the man to carry him away. "You have done well, little King. Please rest and clean yourself up." Philippe encourages, setting the boy down.
Ethan just realizes that he's drenched in blood, but he doesn't care. "Kill them all." He hisses and turns away from his beta.
"As you wish." Then he's alone. At that moment Ethan vows never to love again. Never to give his heart or mind to anyone. He will do what is required but nothing more.
He slips into the boiling water, unaware of the chaos he's causing.
