I always seem to make the worst decisions. This just proves that point further.

Harry pushed the door open and a loud soft snore filled the room. As we stepped in, all three noses of the dog sniffed in our direction but it didn't matter, it was asleep.

"Does someone wanna explain why we haven't been devoured yet?" I said nervously.

"The harp," Hermione whispered to the magical playing instrument at the beasts' feet.

"Snape must have left it here," Ron said.

"Why?" I asked, confused.

"It puts it to sleep. The music, Hagrid told us." Harry answered.

"Hagrid told you?" I asked sceptically.

"It's his dog," Hermione answered, examining the harp.

"That guy needs to calm down. What more dangerous and most probably illegal animals does he want? It'll be talking spiders next." I scoffed and Ron shivered. "Bloody hate spiders."

"Shhhh!" Harry said as the dog's nose twitched. "We've got to hurry up. We don't know when this thing I'll stop playing."

"Its paw is on the trap door," Hermione said grimly.

"It's still asleep, just push it off," I said and she nodded.

She carefully lifted the paw off the trap door and let out a sigh of relief when nothing happened.

"Okay, who's going first?" Harry said.

"Uh Hermione would you like to—" Ron said sweetly.

"No!" She answered and he fell back.

Ron looked at me.

"You're meant to be the brave Griffindor." I raised an eyebrow and he swallowed.

"Right.." He said as he pinched his nose like he was going swimming and ploughed through the door.

There was a scream and then nothing. "You alright Ron!" Harry yelled, Wincing when the dog rolled over.

"I'm okay! There are these plants here, you can jump!" He yelled back.

Hermione gingerly looked into the darkness of the trap door, muttered something like 'Honestly the things I do..' and jumped.

"You okay?!" Harry yelled after her and she yelled back. "We're fine! Jump down!"

"You ready?" Harry asked me and I nodded. He then suddenly looked up, "Does it seem a bit quiet in here to you?"

I looked up, the harp had stopped playing. The dog's growls radiated through the room.

"JUMP!" I yelled and we both plunged into the trap door at the same time, just as the dog went to bite.

"That was a close one." Harry breathed. "Ugh, what is this?" He said referring to the plant things we had landed on.

"We must be miles under the school," Hermione said, gazing around.

"Yeah, lucky this plant thingy is here really," Ron said and I agreed. I'd rather not fall miles under the school, I'd look awful as a pancake.

"Lucky!" She shrieked. "Look at us!" She was struggling against the plant that had wrapped around her.

I hadn't noticed but the plant had started to wrap around me, tightly. I struggled, very panicked but it was no use.

"Stop moving!" Hermione ordered us. "I know what this is — it's Devil's Snare!"

"It's Devil's something!" I gasped as it rounded tighter.
