Everyone has something that they're afraid of and if they tell you that I am lying then they are hiding it pretty well. The fact is that we have at least one thing that we are afraid of but are even more afraid of admitting it. Hilarious, right? Being afraid of speaking about what you're afraid of will not make it disappear. Denying the existence of your fear will only enhance it in your mind because you're constantly reminding yourself to forget about it. Not really that helpful, isn't it? Being afraid of failure is one of the biggest fears that people have and it's normal to be afraid of it. Nobody wants to seek out failure when they are hoping to achieve success. Whether it is failure having to do with that final exams or getting that promotion you were hoping for, everyone is afraid of failing at something. You see those successful people that everybody talks about? Elon Musk, Beyoncé, Bill Gates, and so many others are extremely successful. That doesn't mean that they don't fear failure and that they didn't have that fear when they began their success journeys. Like I said in the introduction, perfection isn't possible but we can fake it to the public. Seeing these successful people as they are already successful makes it seem like they are so perfect and they never ever feared failure on their way to where they are today. Ever heard of "Fake it till you make it'...? Each one of them worked extremely hard at something they were passionate about. They worked day and night to make their dreams a reality. Nobody sees the hard work, only the end result. That's why we choose to hold onto fear of failure, because we are too afraid of the work we have to put in for success. Whether it has to do with getting that degree, starting a business or even getting over a breakup... We fear that we won't have great results in completing the task we are facing and therefore want to quit before we can begin. Being told that you will never amount to anything or that you are only going to become a burden for someone else creates this cloud in your mind that says "If I don't get this degree or if I don't get this job or if I don't earn a raise, I will amount to nothing", which couldn't be further from the truth. I dated someone who's family believed that my life would amount to nothing and that I was only going to be a burden on that person's life. Only because they were so afraid of him failing that they projected that fear onto me as a fear of me causing him to fail at the goals he set out for himself. It's interesting to think about because it shows how sometimes we have so many fears in our minds that we pick certain people as targets to twist the fear into something that can be resolved without resolving our own issues. Distractions make us forget what we are fearful about. That's what these people thrived on. You have the power to take back the fears you set out into the world if you just take a leap of faith. Nothing can make you feel as if you will never succeed unless you believe it yourself. Being afraid of taking risks and going places won't teach you anything in life. Our mentality is so important when it comes to what we allow ourselves to believe and what we do about the things that scare us. I used to be afraid of going on a plane and now it is one of the things that I wish I could do more often. Conquering your fears is what will set you free. Happiness is freedom, not control. If you are so fearful of failure that you try to control every last thing around you, take a moment to find out what you're feeling inside. Is it fear? Sadness? Pain? Disappointment? Regret? Projecting your fears onto others will only make your life feel even more unbearable. This is because you are already ignoring what's happening with your inner self, then you want to focus on what's wrong with everybody else. That is a miserable life for anybody and nobody deserves to live in unhappiness. Taking the time to make sure that you feel safe, understood, loved, appreciated and cared for isn't selfish but it's important for any of us. Everyone deserves to be treated like they would treat someone else. Whether it is a family member, a friend, or someone you met during the day, everybody deserves to be treated like a human being and not mistreated due to fears you have projected onto them. Free yourself from the fears you feel within you and you'll see how much growth you can go through. Nothing is impossible when it comes to what you can achieve. You can do anything you put your mind to. Taking every chance you can to appreciate what you have in life will help you feel more grateful for where you're going. Fear of failure makes us feel isolated. It makes us feel like nobody knows what we're are going through so nobody has to know anyway. Trusting yourself regardless of whether the outcome can be good or bad, that is how you fight your fears. If you don't trust that you can make it whether people want you to or not, then that means that you're afraid of something. You're letting your fear hold you back from doing something great. Freedom starts from relinquishing fear and that starts from trusting yourself. Trusting yourself however, starts by being more than willing to accept that humans make mistakes and that it's okay to screw up as long as we learn from it to prevent it in the future. We will never know what's on the other side of the door if we don't take a leap of faith and open it. The fear of failure doesn't have to force you into being unhappy. You can change your life with taking the first step into being more open minded.
