★Anaya’s pov:-
I stood frozen, my eyes locked onto Arthur's, searching for any sign of emotion. But he remained impassive, his expression unyielding, as if the bombshell Jenny had just dropped didn't faze him in the least.
The room was silent for a moment, before Mrs. Jeon broke the stillness. "What nonsense are you spouting?" she asked, her voice firm but laced with a hint of disdain.
Johana's voice followed, her words a warning. "Stop all this nonsense. We can understand that you may have fallen for him, but this? This is a serious allegation you're making against the future king. You know what the consequences will be if you're lying."
The weight of Johana's words hung in the air, a reminder that Arthur's position as the future king of Romano's, the strongest kingdom in the world, was no trivial matter. The room seemed to vibrate with tension, as everyone waited with bated breath for Jenny's response.
"I know," Jenny said, her voice steady. "But I have nothing to fear. I'm telling the truth." She stood tall, her eyes flashing with determination, as if daring anyone to doubt her.
The room erupted into a flurry of questions, everyone demanding proof from Jenny. But I didn't hear any of it. My attention was fixed on Arthur, who still looked at Jenny with a scowl on his face. He hadn't said a word, neither confirming nor denying the allegation. His grip on my hand remained firm, even when I tried to pull away. It was as if he was holding on to me for dear life, refusing to let me go. I couldn't help but wonder what was going on in his mind. Was he hiding something? Did he truly not care about the accusation? Or was he just waiting for the right moment to react?
Jenny's words hung in the air, her claim that the child was Arthur's sparking a mixture of shock and skepticism. "I have proven," she said, her voice steady. "This is his child. You all can even check it. Do a DNA test-"
But before she could continue, Arthur's cold voice cut through the tension. "Do we really need to...?" he asked, his tone dripping with disdain. He turned his attention to Jenny, his eyes narrowing slightly. "If it's my child, then why can't I feel my pup? Why can't I sense anything inside of you?" he asked, his voice low and menacing.
I felt a shiver run down my spine as I listened to Arthur's words. I was still trying to wrap my head around the whole werewolf thing, and this new revelation was adding to my confusion. Werewolves could sense their children? It was a lot to take in.
Jenny's expression hardened, her eyes flashing with defiance. "Arthur, maybe because I'm a dragon shifter and maybe it's a dragon, not a werewolf. But you also know I'm telling the truth," she said, her voice dripping with conviction.
I watched the exchange, my mind racing with doubts. Was Jenny telling the truth, or was she just a skilled actress? How could someone lie about something so monumental? I looked at Arthur, searching for answers, but his expression was unreadable. At this point, I didn't know who to believe.
I felt like my world was spinning out of control. Just a few days ago, I had discovered the existence of mates, and the secrets that came with it had left me reeling. Now, my supposed mate, Arthur, had an ex claiming to be pregnant with his child. The revelation was too much for me to handle.
"Xavier," I called out, my voice barely above a whisper. Arthur's eyes softened as he looked at me.
"Leave me," I demanded calmly, trying to keep my emotions in check. The pain of knowing he had been with someone else was suffocating me, and this new development was the final straw.
Arthur's face fell, and he took a step closer to me. "Anaya! She is lying!" he exclaimed, his eyes desperate as he grasped my arms.
But I was beyond consolation. "How can someone lie about something like this? She is pregnant..." My voice cracked, and I struggled to keep it from breaking. I didn't want to appear weak in front of him.
