"My heart splinters into a million pieces over the things you do , and it makes me question everything... don't I deserve to feel this broken only if I'm in love? But I'm not... am I?"

Arthur gently placed Anaya on her bed, removing her shoes and pulling the comforter up to her chin. He sat beside her, his eyes watching over her as she slept. Just as he was lost in thought, his brother's voice echoed in his mind through their mental link.

"Dude, this is going to be messy. You better be prepared for it," his brother warned.

Arthur's expression turned introspective, his thoughts drifting back to the complicated web of relationships he had entangled himself in. He had never been committed to Jenny, despite his mother's attempts to bring them together. At the time, he had been lost and vulnerable, still reeling from the uncertainty of his mate's fate. He had always held onto the hope that she was out there, waiting for him.

But then, there was that night... A night that Arthur couldn't erase from his memory, a night that had left an indelible mark on his conscience. He knew it had been a mistake, a moment of weakness that he couldn't take back. Or if his instincts are right then Jenny has a big trouble coming on her way .

As he gazed at Anaya's peaceful face, Arthur knew that he wouldn't let anything come between them. He would face whatever consequences came his way, but he wouldn't abandon his mate now that he had found her.

His thoughts drifted to Jenny, and the complicated situation that had unfolded between them. He knew Jenny couldn't remain stubborn about her claims on him forever. Eventually, she would find her own mate, and her heart would belong to another.

Arthur's mind wandered back to the time when his mother had introduced Jenny to him. They were both unmated, and in a moment of vulnerability, they had taken a chance on each other. But Arthur's heart had never been in it; there was always something about that girl that never seemed right.

Now, nothing else mattered. Anaya was here, and she was his everything. But knowing Jenny's headstrong nature, Arthur was aware that she wouldn't let go of her claims on him without a fight. The thought sent a frustrated sigh escaping his lips, his chest rising and falling with the weight of the impending confrontation.

As Arthur sat lost in thought, he didn't notice the subtle stirrings beside him. Anaya's eyelids fluttered open, and she slowly emerged from her deep slumber. Her memories were hazy, but she vaguely recalled being lost, stumbling upon a mysterious room, and getting engrossed in a book. The next thing she knew, she had drifted off to sleep, unaware of the passing time.

As she adjusted to the bright lights of the room, her gaze fell upon Arthur, sitting beside her with a look of deep concern etched on his face. Startled by his presence, Anaya's eyes widened, but her alarm quickly gave way to curiosity. She noticed the furrowed brow, the tense jawline, and the fingers massaging his forehead, as if trying to ward off a nagging headache.

Arthur's eyes snapped towards her as he heard her shuffling movements. He quickly reached out to help her sit up, his hands gently guiding her into a comfortable position. She had no idea, he thought, no inkling of the panic she had unleashed just hours ago. Her serene expression, oblivious to the chaos she had caused, was almost endearing.

Arthur's serious tone sent a shiver down Anaya's spine as he gazed intensely into her eyes. "Never do that again," he warned, his voice firm but laced with a hint of concern. Anaya felt a surge of defensiveness, but before she could respond, Arthur continued, his words painting a vivid picture of the danger that lurked around her.
