Nicks POV
I sit and think about how life has changed in the last year. It has been an a roller coaster of emotions but I would not trade it for the world. Eliza is well on her way to being back to her old self. Losing our baby took a toll on all of us but we are making it past the grief and starting to feel joy again. I know that in time we will have children running though our home, whether by adoption or natural born. I smile thinking about all the possibilities.
Getting back to the task at hand, I finish with the paperwork, call several clients and customers to ensure they are well then get ready to head out for the rest of the week. We are taking a long weekend to celebrate our anniversary. We will keep it short since we are going to be going on a two week honeymoon in just a couple short weeks. I can hardly believe that I will be a married man in two weeks time. We will stay at a hotel close to the airport after the wedding and then boarding a plane heading to Alaska the next day. I can't help the laugh that escapes as I think back to the conversation we had about honeymoon destinations and having Eliza blurt out that she has never been to Alaska but would love to be in a cabin by a river in the middle of the mountains, Snow all around with just the three of us together for the ten days we would be there. I was expecting her to want to go to a beach somewhere but should have known better since I know how much she loves the mountains in East Tennessee during the winter months.
Anywhere with her is fine by both Linc and myself so we readily agree and set those plans in to motion. We found a cabin in just such an area as she described that was close enough to a very small town that we could go there for supplies but also have most of the time spent by ourselves.
Still in my thoughts, I here the phone ring. I quickly shake off my thoughts to answer the phone.
"Hey Mama is everything alright?" I ask knowing she usually won't call during office hours.
"Everything is better than alright, They are wonderful. I was just on the phone with Eliza finishing up a few last minute wedding plans when she told me how excited she was to be officially a part of the family. Honey, I hope you understand what a treasure you have in her. I just wanted to be sure that you knew how much trouble you would be in if you ever break her heart. I have already given this same speech to Linc. You both better treat her right and treasure her all of your lives. I expect many grandbabies to come from you all." She finally finishes her third degree.
"Motherrrrrrrrrrrrr, you know as well as I do that we would never hurt her and that she is our world. We hope for many years of love and happiness. I know you want grandbabies from us and hope that we can accommodate your wish." I say with a chuckle.
"Hey Mama I need to let you go. I am finished up at the office and would like to get home. Linc and Eliza have already left so that they could finish packing for our trip. We will see you soon. I love you. Be sure to give our love to Mom and Dads." I end the call right after that and head home.
Ok I kind of feel like my thoughts are all over the place so there may be just a few chapters like this that are just filler chapters but that also give a glimpse in to how everyone is feeling and what they are thinking. Let me know what you are thinking and how you are liking the book and its direction so far. As always, I love you all and I am thankful for each and every reader.
