Alexa was prepared to spend the majority of her time avoiding Noah, but he made it easy when he headed back to Nevada the day after their run-in in the hallway.
She was a bit surprised that he left, yet she wasn't surprised at all. She had heard him dragging his bag down the stairs one early morning. When she went downstairs after the slam of the front door, she turned to see her dad sitting in the kitchen, sipping slowly on a cup of coffee.
"Hey, dad."
"Morning, Chicky," Daniel said with a bit of sadness in his voice.
"What did he do?" Alexa asked quietly, unsure of what the situation was and how the apparent blow up happened.
"Oh, you know Noah," Daniel started before he took another long drink of his coffee, "always has something to say about how stuff is done."
Alexa nodded and walked over to the coffee pot to pour herself a cup from the still steaming carafe. She quietly poured in some cream and a bit of sugar before she went back to the kitchen table to sit next to her dad.
"What was it about this time?" Alexa said quietly behind her mug.
Daniel let out a chuckle at that with a small shrug, "Still not entirely sure. Something about how whatever we had planned for the day was clashing with what he needed to do."
"Ah," Alexa nodded, as she took a sip from her mug. There was a long beat of silence before Alexa spoke again, "You know, my first night in town, he went and got fucked up at Jeremy's again."
Daniel nodded solemnly, "Yeah. I know," He sat back in his chair and sighed, running a hand through his tousled hair, "he's not very sly about the dumb shit he does."
Alexa couldn't help but let out a small chuckle at that, "Definitely not...never has been." Alexa stared down into her mug and swirled it around in her hands.
A silence settled over the room for a moment. There was so much more to say about Noah but nothing wanted to leave Alexa's lips. She should tell her dad about him grabbing her. She really should. He would put him in his place faster than you could blink. But she didn't want to stress him out more than he probably already was.
So she left it be.
"Well. We've got a surprise party to put together!" Alexa said, attempting to lift the mood.
Daniel nodded, shaking off the mood that had settled in the moments prior, "Exactly. God, your mother is going to kill us."
"She will for a minute, but she'll be excited to see everyone," Alexa reassured him, "Should we get to it?"
"Absolutely." Daniel replied as he stood up from his chair.

The rest of their day, Alexa pushed away the thoughts of the morning Noah drama and her and her dad got to work putting together and decorating a private room at one of Angela's favorite restaurants, Le Mont.
It took them a few hours but once it was all said and done, the room looked beautiful, draped in various shades of purple and silver to celebrate Angela's 60th birthday.
Once they finished, they Alexa stayed behind at the restaurant while her dad headed home to get ready to take Angela out for what she thought was a birthday dinner. While Alexa waited, she took her bag into the bathroom to change.
She snapped a picture of herself in the floor to ceiling mirror and sent it along to Rylee for judgement, asking her if she thought it was okay for the party. She knew Rylee would be honest with her, and if she said it was a no go, she still had time to change.
