We land on piece of ice as the blue fish again disappear in the water. I check on the two possums if they're alright, seeing they are and we sepparated, them going for their sister while I went to find my friends.
I found Diego on piece of ice, his claws dig into it as he froze in place, only fear filling him. Jumping to him over the ice pieces, I land between his paws and look up at him.
"Diego, you need to calm down. If you stay here frozen in place, you'll die! You need to fight your fear." I slap his face few times to wake him up, but he didn't even reacted to it. How really? "Diego, wake up. I don't like this. Diego, wake up. Oh, come on, buddy. Fight your fear."
"Diego! Rose!" I turn around and we watch Sid swimming slowly to us, trying to get away from the big blue fish eating him. When I see the fish, I try to move with Diego but no use. I help Sid up as he also tries to move with the tiger, the blue fish getting closer and closer to us.
"Oh, great." I curse under my breath, wrapping my body around Diego's leg, like it's gonna save me.
"This may sting a little." Sid bites Diego's tail, finally waking him up as they start to jump away, landing on land. Unfortunately I let go of Diego and fell right on top of the blue fish. Oh, great. The fish then disappeared into the water with me, thankfully I took deep breath. The last thing I heard was Sid and Diego calling my name.
It's dark in the water, but I can see the giant fish swim-circling me. Thinking how can I save myself without getting eaten, an idea pop in my head. I unwrap the necklake the man gave us and took out my knife, waiting for the right moment.
The fish charges at me and I dodge, letting it to bite the necklake as it wrap around it and I hold onto it, riding it as it tries to get me of it's back, my hold on the necklake tightening. I force the fish to go surfase, jumping out the water.
"Woo-hoo!" I cheer in the air as I catch all my friends watching me shocked and took deep breath before we fall into water again. I may be crazy but it's actually fun. I stab it in the side with my knife, putting it into pain and open it's mouth as I again force it upwards and I jump, unwrapping the necklake and landing safely on my hind legs in front my friends, bowing dramatically with big victorious grin on my face.
"Wo-hoo! That was awesome!"
"Yeah! You're very cool weasel!"
"Ultra weasel!" The two possum brothers cheer for me, making me smile and bow again after wrapping the necklake again around my body.
"Aw, thank you." The next thing I know is being wrapped in a trunk, lifted of the ground.
"That was very dangerous move, Rosaline. You could've hurt yourself, or worse." Manny scold me like a little child, my face turning into wierd confusion. He never called me by my full name. His face then softened. "But I have to admit, it really was cool." And he pull me into hug. Aww.
"I know it was cool, hehe." He finally put me down so Sid went to me.
"Wow, Rosie, I didn't know you can do such a thing. It was awesome, cool, crazy, dangerous! How did you learn that?" He rush at me with questions, in his voice amazement.
"Sid is right, it was something you can never see every day." Ellie joins him.
"I don't know, an idea just popped in my head and I tried it, surprisingly it worked. But it was fun!" I call, still feeling the adrenaline in me after this. I wring my body to get as much water off me as possible.
"Like for who." A growl escapes someone behind me and I turn around to be nose to nose my very best tiger friend, his look not twice happy. Oh yeah, I forgot at his overprotective side.
"Uh oh." I breathe out before pulling away to look at him better. "Oh, come on, Diego. You know I can take care of myself. You don't need to worry 'bout me." Letting myself fall on his nose, hugging his face, I look funny into his eyes.
"But it could've turn bad. You shouldn't be so rebellious and think you can always protect yourself." He says, sighing in defeat and hugging me with his paw. "I can't lose my best friend." He whispers. It reminds me the time when he was on the edge of dying and I said I can't lose him because he's my best friend.
"Aww, you big baby." In baby voice I teased, rubbing his head as he playfully glared at me.
"You're mega weasel." He nudge me with his head, smirk playing on his face. I smile wider, jumping on his back as we came to Ellie and her brothers.
"That was the bravest thing I've ever seen." Ellie says, smiling.
"It was nothing. I-" Manny is cut off by the female mammoth.
"Oh, it's not a compliment. To a possum, bravery is just dumb." Ellie turn away as her brothers agree with her and follow her. And what they said to me seconds ago wasn't the opposite what they said right now? "Maybe mammoths are going extinct because they get in danger. Maybe you should run away more." Ellie stops, turning back to look at shocked Manny.
"Good point. Thanks for the advice." Manny replies fake grateful.
"Happy to help." We hear Ellie call back before Manny's nerves kick.
"Do you believe her? 'Bravery is dumb. Maybe you should run away more'. She's infuriating and stubborn and narrow-minded." Manny growls, mimicking her voice. I cringe but smirk, knowing Manny likes her.
"Oooh. You like her." Sid tease, smirking up at our big friend who replies grumpy "I do not." and leaving after the possums.
"Don't worry. Your secret is safe with me." He calls to him and Diego walks around Sid, making him open his mouth again. "And so is yours."
"What secret?" Jumping beside Sid, we look at Diego when he don't wants to admit it.
"You know, the one where you can't swim." Diego steps on a rock to avoid the water beneat him. "That's ridiculous."
"It's fine. But we're living in a melting world, buddy. You're going to have to face your fear sooner or later." Sid sang, walking around him and splashing a water at him. Since when is Sid this smart?
"You know, Sid is right. Once this all melt and water cover this all, you will have to face it. You have to fight it. It's no shame to be afraid, it's a normal thing." I agree with Sid as I jump over the water, not wanting to get me wet more.
"If you're so smart about fears, how do you fight yours?" Diego suddenly ask, making me pause in walking, thinking about the only thing I'm afraid of but quickly shake my head, not giving him a glance.
"I don't, because I don't think it even exist. Not anymore." And with these words I follow our herd, Diego then following after as he tries to think what is my fear. No one know what I'm afraid of, and I'm looking forward to not even think about it.
