The least thing that Britain expected to happen was that China would break their deal at the very last minute.
What happened to the girl? According to the deal, now, Jocasta would have been handed to him.
Britain wondered. Did America get in the way…
At the time that America knew about the plan, Britain moved the destination to the church in Peking instead of his mansion and also told his men to pass through the gate that Netherland protected. No way America could scoop him before the girl got to the church. He couldn't let anybody else know about this either, since he was considered his partner in crime.
There were two scenarios that could explain the postponement of Jocasta's arrival: China had changed his mind, which got on the British man's nerves; or German Empire had earned all the glory by victoriously rescuing the girl from the Chinese territories. That man didn't let himself be in anyone's hand.
Britain hoped for the second theory to take place. He could see the consequences of China's betrayal.
However, God was a hell of a sarcastic man. The German commander showed no sign of emotion on his face. It was impossible to guess what he was thinking. Neither victoriousness nor nervousness. He sat there, relaxed, listening to the other countries report the last attack of the Boxers. His eyebrows only frowned a little when he heard the number of soldiers's death cases up until now. The act that every country leader did, including Britain.
"It's a shame that I can't bring those boys home". - America, who sat right next to Britain, turned around to tell his man. - "Don't you think that we can at least give their ashes to their moms?"
All the soldiers's bodies were said to be given back to the country's commanders so that they could burn and collect their ashes. After estimating the numbers of soldiers they had left, they brought up the topic which they all came for.
"China is hungry for the deal".
Japan said. All the countries stared at GE and RE, waitting for an answer.
"I guess that man lost his patience as well as all of us" - German Empire boldly spoke like a declaration. - "And he got what he wanted. Just an hour ago".
Nothing went out of expectation. German Empire wouldn't himaluate himself and his country by abandoning the girl. What they were curious about was how he had dealt with Russian Empire.
"I…"
Russian Empire began to speak to disturb the silent atmosphere.
"I want that biscuit".
"Don't you think that you can get it yourself?"
Austrian - Hungarian Empire frowned, but still reached out his hand to the table, grabbing a biscuit and gave it to the Russian.
"Can't". - Russian Empire said, staring at the other countries sarcastically. - "I'm not doing well under pressure".
The other countries moved their eyes off the Russian for him finally saying so. Russian Empire in their eyes was a monster in battles, but still too naive to be a huge power in Europe. They assumed that GE had given him some tricky deals.
"Since everything is settled down, I see no reason for staying here. Good afternoon".
With that, Japan was the first one who left the meeting. He didn't even look at the other nations. To him, they were no different from the dead bodies on the streets.
Japan sat on his horse, slowly rode back to his mansion. Things that happened between Germany and Russia had nothing to do with him. If there was anything that made him confused, it would be how long this situation had lasted until now. Although China and Mongolia had the highest population in the world, most of them were just peasants, unarmed, untrained. Wasn't it a bit odd that in all eleven nations' reinforcements, not even a troop could make it to Peking?
