"Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life."
~ Proverbs 4:23
This is one of my favorite verses in the bible. The heart, contrary to what others say, is more than just an organ that pumps blood to keep you alive.
In the New Testament, the Greek word for "heart" is kardia which denotes the center of physical and spiritual life.[i] It is the "real you." The heart covers your passions, dreams, hopes, aspirations, emotions, and yes, desires.
We are called to guard, protect and treasure our desires. Why? Because it is the wellspring of life! Life flows out from your desire. There is life in your dreams!
We all have desires – whether we are in touch with them right now or not.
God has planted special dreams in your heart. These God-given dreams have been with you ever since you were born. You might have glimpses of them while you are still young. You catch them in your daydreams and in your youthful ambitions.
However, over the years, you may have failed to get in touch with these desires to the point that you have already forgotten about your dreams.
This happened to me.
