#4 Slugs have four noses and 5 hearts?!

Slugs aren't really pleasant looking animals to most people. At Least to me. A slug is a small slow-moving creature with a long soft body, no legs, like a snail without its shell. There's really nothing more to describe these creatures with. They're quite simple. What do they eat? They can eat everything. Literally anything! The reason for this is because they are herbivores, carnivorous, omnivores, and detritivores. This all means they are mammals eating decaying waste from any plant and animal. Although, there are specialist and generalist species that eat worms, vegetarian, rotten vegetation, animal waste, fungus and other snails as well. How do these animals without backbones mate? Slugs often raise their head at the detection of pheromones in the air, and then turn to orient themselves and crawl towards the perceived source. Many slugs also exhibit some degree of mucus-trail-following in order to locate a mate. Slugs can live for about 6 years, but their eggs can lie dormant for years before hatching when conditions are right. Did you know that these animals can have about 27,000 teeth as well? Crazy right? What would you do with that many teeth? But do you know what is even crazier? Slugs have four noses and literally 5 hearts. Slugs actually have two noses; one on their head and one on their tail. The nose on the head is used for smelling, while the nose on the tail is used for breathing. Slugs use both of their noses to smell and breathe, and they can even smell with their eyes! Which all counts as four noses in total. They have 5 hearts. 5. They move through the soil using their hydrostatic skeleton and setae which they use as anchors.

Imagine having five hearts and four noses? Those just added up to our five senses!
