"So, you never told me why you were out up on Commodore Point that night," Will mentioned out of the blue. He and Ryan were currently lying on Ryan's bed the Friday night after mock exam week.

It had been a month since Ryan's cast had been put on but it still needed a few more weeks to heal some more, so they decided to just spend their Friday night lazing around. It had also been over three weeks since the debacle that was Oliver at Dale's store but luckily, not much else had happened. Mainly because Will hadn't seen much of him since, partly because he knew seeing him would cause more issues but also because he'd locked himself away to study for the mock exams. It was his final year of high school after all, it was all very important and he didn't need anyone messing it up. Ryan, to his own dismay, still had to do the exams, so he was happy to be locked away with Will, studying hard for them too.

The two were laying in a T, with Will's head on his boyfriend's stomach. As Ryan played with his boyfriend's hair, he thought over his answer to Will's question. "Well, as you probably remember, Mia and I had just broken up that afternoon. So, I'd gone to the party to distract myself. I didn't wanna just laze around at home, getting all hung up on the break up, y'know. I probably would've gone crazy, to be honest. So yeah, when I got there, the guys had brought some weed with them, an-"

"You smoke weed?" Will cut in.

"Yeah, from time to time," Ryan admitted, having somehow not mentioned it once in the four months the two had been dating. "Anyway, the guys wanted to smoke, so we went round the headland to that little cove place, I forget the name. But yeah, they were just passing it round and I had a few puffs but, I don't know, I just didn't really feel like it? I kinda just wanted to go home, really. So the guys told me to fuck off 'cause I was being such a downer and 'harshing their buzz' – 'cause apparently we still live in the '70s," he explained snarkily.

Will remained quiet as Ryan talked about his friends. The last few months between Ryan and his friends had been tense, to say the least, mainly because they didn't take too well to the news that their male friend was dating another guy. Sure, they'd stood around and laughed when they watched Ryan hit on Will, but they didn't realise that it was more than a joke to Ryan. So, part of Will understood the shock they must've felt when their "straight" friend just casually mentions he's dating a guy now, but that never excused the terrible things they'd say to Ryan whenever Will was brought up in conversation. In the end, Ryan jut spent less and less time with them and spent more time with Will and his friends.

Will felt bad sometimes, to be honest. Dating him meant Ryan had to give up his friends. Dating him caused that, in Will's mind anyway. Ryan just brushed it off as Will overthinking things whenever he brought it up, but it ate at Will. He often felt like Ryan had given up so much for the relationship while he hadn't given up all that much himself. Ryan was loyal and would do anything for him, while Will was getting confused anytime Oliver showed interest. Ryan was just utter perfection and Will was absolute scum.

"Lucky they told me to get lost though, or I wouldn't have run into you," Ryan said, breaking the silence they'd been in. "And I wouldn't end up being the happiest I've ever been in my life, even with this broken leg," Ryan laughed. Will couldn't help but smile, his head vibrating along as Ryan's body shook in laughter.

Will manoeuvred himself to lie on top of Ryan, wrapping his arms around the other boy in a tight hug. "I love you so much," he mumbled into Ryan's neck.

Ryan wrapped his arms around his boyfriend, hugging him as tightly as he was being hugged, and positioned his mouth close to Will's ear. "I love you more," he whispered sincerely.

Neither one of them knew just how true that statement might have been.

It was about an hour or so later that they heard dance music pumping loudly a few houses down from Ryan's place. The two hadn't moved for the most part, just enjoying the embrace of one another as they whispered to each other about nothing in particular.
