Vonnie Tyler
In English Jodi made lunch plans with Jolee and invited me along.
"We are heading to Subway for lunch, you should come." I was surprised at how warm hearted Jodi is. She's acted like we've known each other for years instead of hours. It's no wonder her and Jolee are already so popular. "I didn't bring my car." I guess there would be another time when I could go to lunch with them when I bring my car.
When I turned sixteen and was legally able to drive my dad went out and bought me a new car, even after I told him that I would be fine driving Mom's car. I loved her car, whenever I sat in it, it was like I could still feel her with me. Every dent and scratch was still in it after the car crash because I'd screamed and cried when he wanted to get it repaired. Amazingly the car wasn't totaled, but my mother was ejected from the car when a semi crashed into her car and killing her.
So the new car that my dad bought just sits on my side of the garage along with Mom's things, mostly her arts and crafts and music things. I hardly ever drove the car, mostly I just got rides from Kail.
"That's okay, you can ride in mine." Jodi smiled a bright white smile. I followed the twins out to Jodi's car. Her car was a silver jeep. "Vonnie, meet Bonnie!" Jodi exclaimed with a show-host wave of her arm.
I laughed with Jodi while Jolee just rolled her eyes, I really was losing my patience with her, I might as well be friends with Cassandra, at least she acknowledges me.
When we got to Subway I hopped out of the backseat and followed the twins in the door. My phone rang from my purse and Kail's picture was on the screen, "Hello?" I answered.
"Vonnie! Where are you? Ive been waiting outside your class for ten minutes." I rolled my eyes even though he couldn't see me. He makes me so mad sometimes! "I'm off campus already, go have lunch with Cassie." I sneered her name, I know I'm pushing him but he's been pushing me for years. "Vonnie! She has been nothing but nice to you, why do you continue to treat her with malice? You think I don't notice the sarcasm and the attitude?"
I hung up on him.
How dare he! After everything he and his demon girlfriend put me through he's yelling at me? Fine. I looked at the twins and they had that look on their face like they heard everything but didn't know whether to pretend they hadn't or to say something. I chose to end the awkward silence and talk first, "It's fine."
I went through my phone and found the text that Cassandra sent me this morning. I took a screen shot of it and sent it to Kail with a little note.
I hope you made the right choice.
He chose his psycho girlfriend over me and I was too much of a zombie to care before today.
The twins and I finally made it to the counter to order. The twins ordered something that I was unfamiliar with and I almost said meatball sub like I usually would if I went with Kail, but then I decided to switch it up and so I said, "BLT." The hot counter guy, whose name tag said 'Chris', winked at me and started on the twins' sandwiches. I backed up against the wall next to the entrance, I closed my eyes and just...tried to think. Kail, my only friend (not including Jodi), had chosen someone else over me.
When my mom died, he made a promise to me that he would be all I needed and that I would be all he needed. I suppose that because of the state I was in, I was more inclined to hold him to it rather than let it fade away like most things from when we were ten. I guess our bond had finally snapped, maybe it was because Cassandra's crotch was more alluring than my friendship? I guess I can't blame him. I suppose anything would be better than being friends with a loner.
