Chapter Ten- Vonnie
"Cassandra, don't be rude." A beautiful brunette woman scolded. Cassandra rolled her eyes and inspected her manicured nails. "Whatever, Mom."
The woman ignored her and extended her hand toward me. "Hi. Vonnie, I'm Meredith, it's nice to meet you." I narrowed my eyes at her and wanted to spit on her hand. Instead I opted on turning around and crutching back to the guest room. Dad wasn't far behind me and I tried to crutch faster so I could slam the door in his face, but he caught me first.
"What the hell, Elvonna? What is your god damn problem?" He grabbed my arm to keep me from trying to continue crutching away.
"Aside from the fact that you're dating the mother of my middle and high school bully? I don't know, Dad! What the hell is your god damn problem? Maybe if you actually gave a damn about me you would know how much that prissy bitch has put me through the past few years, but no, you only care about yourself!" My shouting was making my face red and my eyes wet.
"I see." He said calmly. He let go of my arm and held his hand out to me. "Let's go have dinner, and we can discuss this afterwards." He didn't seem to show even the slightest bit of empathy. My anger sizzled under my skin I was almost vibrating with rage.
"No. I'm not eating with that colossal bitch or her mom like everything is okay. I'll go without." He gritted his teeth, his own rage glimmering in his eye. "Get out." He said. I was shocked by what he said. I wasn't sure I had heard him correctly.
"Pack your crap and get out of my house." He crossed his arms and waited for me to say something or make a move. "Bellda!" He shouted suddenly.
Bellda hurried from the kitchen, "Yes, Mr. Tyler?" She had a damp rag in her hands that she was using to wipe her hands with. "Help Vonnie pack her things from her room and put them in her car, and make sure you confiscate her house key." After that he turned his back on me and returned to his guests. I was in shock.
"Go ahead and wait for me in the garage and I'll pack your things and bring them down. I know you can't drive with your legs, I'll call my son and have him meet me where ever you want to go, and he will bring me back." I nodded, still unable to speak.
I decided to call my Uncle Ben and Aunt Tracey. "Hey, Uncle Ben, can I stay with you for a few days?" I asked shakily. I think he picked up on my shaky tone because he quickly said yes and asked when he should expect me. "Maybe forty-five minutes?" He didn't live far from here thankfully. He got off the phone quickly. I didn't see my aunt and uncle very often just special occasions. My mom's brother was a very quiet man who didn't particularly like my dad.
I tried my best to just keep calm so I crutched myself as quickly as I could to the garage.
Half an hour later my black mustang was packed with my clothes, school stuff, and shoes. I didn't have much else. Bellda took my keys and sneakily removed the house key and put it on a hook on the wall. I took my phone from my pocket and called Harry.
"Hello?" His voice was playful and sweet and that's all it took to break me.
"Harry, do you have time? A lot has happened in the last thirty or so minutes." I tried to explain without crying. Bellda helped me into the car and buckled my seat belt.
"Of course I have time, are you okay?" He asked sounding worried. Bellda slammed my door and got in the driver's side. "Was that a car door? You're supposed to be at dinner what the hell is going on?" He asked now sounding angry. Bellda started the car and used the clicker for the garage to open the door behind us and slowly started to back out.
