Crab was awake, and it was time for him to-
Matai, he has was waiting for a human. He ate a few shrimp he found washed up on the sand, and slept well throughout the day. He did not think about Luis, because he was focused on upgrading his underground sand home.
His legs were in the sand, and the first few dug up a small space.
He continued making the place vast enough to his liking, and he had achieved his thoughts. No, not thoughts actually.Goals.
Goals is better.
But Matai can't really aim for things, especially goals.
You know what, cut that sentence.Crab crawled above, hearing footsteps.
'
Luis had come to him, keeping his promise he made in his head. Hands on his knees, he whispered, "Is this a trick? Is this crab mechanical-"
The crab dug its legs into him, showing he is here. Alive and well. He looked unhappy.
Y
"Dude-get off!"
He was flung into the hole of his house/underground habitat."Woah..." Luis walked to see it, aware of crab and his aggressiveness.
"Mate...you've been making this?" He asked Matai, knowing no answer will come.
He quietly laughed, realising he was at a beach again.
"I didn't even notice-" He said, pointing the the ocean. "That you had no home?" He slightly squinted his right eye, showing embarrassment.
"Do you eat? What do crabs eat?"
Matai was making his home, so he probably didn't hear those words."I'll...search it up..."
Searching it up, he moved away from the crab, eyes on something else.
"You guys need to keep moist- What does this have to do with eating?"
He scrolled down. "Hold up...you can't live on sand forever, you have to keep your gills or something moist, and then you can go another day without water. Ocean w-"He stopped, feet in the sand.
"Salt! I'll just add salt! I don't need to chuck you in the water! Ha ha!" In joy, he danced quietly by himself, letting the pale moon shine over him. Once he stopped, his eyes gazed over it, admiring how it was over him.
"Hey, wait here okay? I'm gonna get a stick to dig a hole in the sand, I'll use this...probably alive broken mussel to get water! I also don't need to add salt, I just need this water," The crab climbed up, staying still, watching Luis find a stick.
Swishing it around, Luis dug up a hole. Matai continued making his home, letting Luis do the work that'll save his life.
20 minutes passed, and Luis shouted, "Done!"
The crab crawled rapidly towards the hole, and stared at it. Luis gave him a small nudge with his foot.
"You won't even budge-" He kicked him into the hole."This isn't betrayal, this is saving a life," He muttered under his breath, feeling dumb for thinking a crab like Matai would forgive him. Matai is a crab, he has no feelings! Who is he kidding?
Matai was struggling, it looked like a dead crab with chopped of legs. It got used to the water minutes later, and Luis was checking out the hole Matai made.
He looked back and found a calmed Matai on the hole. He grabbed the stick and let the crab climb on it, reaching the sand. It ran straight to its underground home, not even thanking Luis.
"Hey! Never mind..." He's a crab, animals don't thank humans with a 'thank you'.
Luis sat away from the hole and placed his hand under his shirt. It was becoming colder, and the sun was going to disappear. He would miss it, but he wouldn't want the rain to go as well. The moon was always there, however.
It would always be there to support every single thing and person, and maybe we don't need it for other things, but it looked majestic to Luis, who spent his life sleeping outside with his friend. He stood up once again, leaving his moment of peace (it wasn't even a moment, it was three seconds).
"I'm gonna go now, school is tomorrow, don't wanna skip it again,"The crab, too busy, snapped its pincers and without hesitation, let Luis leave.
He did need to make a home, that was understandable. Luis planned to bring worms, clams, mussels and other...crabs.
Cannibalism...
Luis walked away with disgusting thoughts, hands in his warm pockets.
