Matai was lost.
He went further, away from Luis.
He ended up somewhere that wasn't the forest, and to the crabs surprise, he was on concrete. The beach, to a forest, to concrete.
Maybe the world is small after all.'
"Go," Trist told Luis.
"No, you go,"
"No bro,"
"Bro,"
"No,"
"Dude,"
"This is rude dude,"Luis stepped out of the car, and left Trist, running to the sand. Trist followed, seeing that Luis was near Matai's underground hole.
"Let's go to the forest, give the bag to me,"
Trist passed on the bag to Luis. It contained a few low-key dangerous weapons. A knife, elastic bands, spray of water with chopped chilli peppers, books (to throw), tape, and other unusual things that most students wouldn't use. Most. They went into the forest, stepping on the grass.
"Woah..."
"Let's go further in," Luis told him.And die?
No.
Yeah right.Luis shook the thoughts away and went deeper in, still carrying the bag.
"Should we take a left? Maybe he'll be there,"
"No, I know Matai. He likes things straight, he goes further in the forest until he sees something,"
"He must've saw something then, that drew him closer,""Do you hear that?" Luis asked him.
They paused, looking around.
"Is that a factory?" Trist asked.
"No you idiot, cars," Luis replied.'
"Hey hey hey, you see that?" Trist nudged Luis' elbow.
"Dude, I am so sleepy,"
"Wake up,"
"It's hard to listen to someone like you,"
"For real, I see a road,"
Luis straightened himself, squinting ahead."That's no road,"
It was wooden, and damp. No concrete was there."You think he could've died? There could still be a factory?"
"I have come to the conclusion you have an obsession with factories,"
"No, I seriously don't. Move," Trist told him, walking faster.Luis scoffed and caught up to him, eager to find Matai.
"He couldn't have gone far, he's probably worried about you,"
"Yeah, a crab who walks really fast and isn't human? I don't think so,"'
And indeed, Matai didn't care. He went further, leaving the two of them confused. He had found a wooden floor, with gaps in between, so he left. Taking a right, he found the end of the floor, and it led to a cliff. There was an aerial crate, with tarpaulin over it. The crates moved forward, being attached to a line over it. It moved ahead into the foggy mountains, leaving other crates to come. There were boxes and crates stacked on each wooden plank.
Basically, the wooden plank had crates on it, and those planks wouldn't break due to Matais weight. He could easily go on it, and be lifted down the mountain somewhere. Matai looked back at the forest seen from afar
Nah.
'
'Matai!"
Luis called out, still not reaching the wooden place. It was night, and the insects would have come out to bite them.
"Let's just sleep here,"
"We have no blankets!"
"We do," Trist pointed to the bag. Luis pulled it out, surprised."Okay then...thanks I guess," He stared at Trist, who was already on the blankets, sleeping.
"Alright, goodnight. I hope you're safe Matai..." Luis slept next to Trist, seeing nothing but the forest.
All this trouble for a crab.
'
Matai is unsure.
And if he cannot put his legs in the scorching sand, it would be a waste of his time.He wishes he went in the water earlier.
He wishes he could've went away from Luis and stay on the sand. But the Matai king will not give up.
Even in this situation.
