Crab was waiting for-

God, I mean Matai, has been waiting for Luis ever since he left. He didn't arrive. He snuggled up in his home, until he heard a noise.

Footsteps.

They weren't Luis'.

They were someone else's, so he stood still until they left. When he came out, a big blue bucket of food was sitting there for him. Crab may have matured in two years (not really), but he eats anything he sees, poisonous or not. They were the food that Luis listed.

He ate it all, climbing into the bucket. Feeling full, he drank the water in the bucket, and left. He went back to his home, and crawled around the sand. He didn't see the sun anymore, because he was busy sleeping now. Maybe Luis left him and died?

Crab doesn't want him to leave like his family.
Crab is strong.
Crab will live long.

He is Matai the Great, the King crab.

All hail, the lonely crab...

'

"Trist?" Luis asked him.
"Yes?" He replied, placing the tray of seafood on his table.
"Maybe today? Or after I...eat? Never mind! I'm sorry, don't even recall what I just s-"
"Yeah, you're right, Just don't be kidding me,"
"Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!" He rose onto his feet and hugged him.

Trist left the room, taking his bag with a picnic mat, blankets, their phones and his second big blue bucket in it.

After Luis was full and took a bath due to his worn out body, they left the house, talking about how weird Luis was for forgiving Trist for almost killing him.

Once they reached the beach, Luis refused to go first.

"Scared?"
"Yeah, you might betray me and sink me in the sand,"
"Right...you do that to me actually!"
"No!"

Trist went first and stepped onto the sand, and a crab appeared, crawling to them.

"Is this it? Sorry I'm just blind in the night-"

He felt a pinch on his chest.

Damn he is fast.

He heard snapping.

"Matai! Meet me friend! Trist!"

The snapping and horrifying pinching ended, and the crab followed them. They walked to a place they found perfect, near the water.

They placed the picnic mat on the sand, and Matai was near Trists collarbone.

"He usually likes a part of a persons body, and to you, it's your chest,"
"What? It's just a scary ass crab-"
"Take your shirt off," He interrupted.
"What?!"
"Fine?" He took his off, giving it to Luis. "And?"

The crab pinched him, and then stopped.
"He's thinking?"
"Oh so it has a gender now?!"
"Put your shirt back on- wait...no..."
"Why?..." He whispered.

Luis looked at the moon, knowing it was his chance.
"I want to go swimming with someone. You,"
"Hell yeah!" He stood up and walked with Luis down to the water.

Luis shoved Trist into the water, and he pulled Luis with him.

"Cold?"
"It's colder than it usually is!" He said, hands wrapped around his waist. He was stinging a whole lot more.

"Take your hands off, you need those sides to heal," He told Luis, pulling his hands away forcefully.

"It's colddd!"
"Hands off!"
"Fine!"

"Ahhh cold!"
"Stop exaggerating!"
"Haha sorry-"
"Aren't you afraid of sharks here?"
"What? The only shark I see here is you?"
"Hey!" He lunged forward to push Luis in the water, but realised he wasn't as strong as he was.

"What was that?..."
"I- Rah!" He hugged Luis, almost choking him.
"That's a nice hug..."
"In the water..." Trist added.
"With a crab watching us..." Luis whispered in fear and annoyance. They pulled away from the hug and ran over to the crab.

"Hello?" Luis said to the crab. It crawled away.
"You aren't getting away- spy!" Trist shouted, hoping the word spy wasn't offending at all.

Matai ran to its home, which wasn't far. They let him relax there, and they sat on their mat.

"Blanket!" Trist ushered him to pass it over.
Luis grabbed one for him too, and put his head on the floor, sleeping. Well, trying to.

"Trist?"
"Yeah?"
"How insane do you think I am for having a crab as a friend?"
"Not insane at all, he's actually wonderful, and quite funny,"
"He's handsome too right?"
"Dude, I don't even know what direction he's looking at-"

Luis bursted out in giggles, and he felt a crab on his feet.

Trist sat up.
"Hey Mat," He said to it. Matai went up on his shoulder, and they both stood awake communicating to each other and bonding (apparently), while watching over Luis if any bugs came on him, but there were none. It was weird, seeing as at night those bugs come out on the beach. But they were gone, or just not here.

'

Crab likes this boy.
He smells tough.
He smells like a king.
He is Matai material.

With the tough power of boy, and the emotional power of Luis, and the power of a crab with strength to pinch, they will never die.

They will, but they are better off alive.
