After Vali's visit to the lab

"Well, anyway, I got to get to school." The blonde-haired boy said as he left the lab.

"Pika..." Pikachu, who was next to Eevee, said sadly.

"Eevee..." she agreed, looking through the window as the boy rode out of Pallet Town. She desperately wanted a trainer to choose her. Ever since she hatched, five months ago, Eevee has seen countless trainers choose a Pikachu over her. She lost count of how many Pikachus have been brought into the lab.

Professor Oak started to pet her softly, "Don't worry, Eevee, I'm sure that a trainer will choose you soon," he tried to reassure her, but it didn't make her feel any better.

"I'll be right back, you two, I got to go get something from back home. Wait here." Professor Oak said as he left the lab.

Eevee stared at the window in contemplation, watching as the blonde-haired boy became nothing but a speck as he went further into the distance. There was something strange about him. Eevee doesn't think that she has met anybody that she wanted to be chosen by more than him.

She had to go after him. She didn't understand why, but she felt like he had to be her trainer. There was something drawing her in.

"Eevee," she spoke to Pikachu, telling him something.

"Pika?" Pikachu said in a questioning tone.

"Vee," Eevee responded, determined.

Pikachu smiled, "Pi!"

Eevee nuzzled him for a moment, before giving him an "Eevee" in response, saying goodbye to him as she jumped out the window, running after the boy.

During the Ursaring attack

The Ursaring started to roar at Eevee, but it didn't even flinch. Eevee looked at me expectantly, as if it were waiting for my orders. Almost as if... I was its trainer. It wanted to battle alongside me.

Normally, I would refuse, but... I had no other choice. It was either do or die. I took a deep breath, before slowly standing up, making sure to put my weight on my good foot.

"Let's do it Eevee!" both of us stared down Ursaring, who looked at us with newfound caution. I had no idea how I was doing it, but it felt like Eevee and I were trainer and pokemon.

I remembered Eevee's potential moves, but I didn't know which moves this Eevee knew.

"Tackle!" I shouted, thinking that It was the move it was most likely to know.

Eevee yapped affirmatively, its legs tensing, before it pounced at Ursaring, the wind bursting as it launched at it. Its head hit Ursaring, who didn't even flinch.

Ursaring raised its arm, its claws flashing, ready to use Fury Swipes. I knew Eevee couldn't dodge it. Come on, five seconds of being a temporary pokemon trainer and I was already about to lose my first battle?

Nah, I wouldn't go down that easy. I had an idea. Tackle gave the user a burst of speed that is used for attacking. But, what if you didn't use it just to attack? What if you used it to evade? As far as I knew, no one has ever done something like that before, but it wasn't time to think in orthodox ways. I had to think crazy.

"Eevee, Tackle again! But use it to dodge."

Eevee understood what I meant, using the momentum from Tackle to get out of the way as Ursaring's claws slashed at Eevee at nigh-unseeable speeds. It missed by a hair's breadth, but it gave me even more ideas.

"Eevee, keep using Tackle! Kick off the trees and walls!" it was crazy, but then again, nothing is more insane than daring to fight this Ursaring.

"Vee, Vee!" Eevee yapped, kicking off the wall next to it, before launching to another wall, then a tree, then a wall, then a tree, and so on and so forth. Each time it became faster and faster, until Eevee was nothing but a blur.
