We pulled away and ended the kiss, and we continued to read. The book was actually very interesting, I've never really had much of an interest of the Civil War, but I'd say it was worth it, plus, I loved hearing ponyboy read! Darry came in and said, "It's already gettin' late, I'll give y'all fifteen more minutes and then y'all have to head to bed." Ponyboy rubbed his head and yawned, "Okay Darry." I was actually getting sleepy myself, so we didn't complain. We read for a few minutes more and then Pony began to say words wrong and yawn occasionally. I took the book, and as I set it down, his hand immediately went down on the couch. "Tired?" I asked. He mumbled, "Mhm... whenever I start gettin' sleepy, I get all groggy and I can't say nothin' right. Wanna turn in?" I smiled, "Sure hon." I got up and held his hand to help him get up. We walked slowly to the room and Darry said as he walked by, "Goodnight." "G'night." Pony slurred. I smiled at Darry, "Goodnight Darry." He smiled back and began setting up the couch for Johnny. The lights were already off in the room, so Soda was asleep. Ponyboy went in first and moved closer to Soda so I could come in. I set the book on the nightstand and Ponyboy lifted the blanket and said tiredly, "C'mon baby, bedtime." I shut the door and slowly went in. Once I got settled, pony draped the blanket over me. He murmured close to my ear, "Goodnight mev, love you. Sleep good." I smiled even though he couldn't see me, "Goodnight, love you too. Sweet dreams." He moaned sleepily and put his arm around my waist, hugging me so gently, and then putting his head behind my neck before kissing it and drifting off. I fell asleep quickly after that as I heard him say again, all slurred and tired, "Love you..." It felt like an echo as those two words faded and faded... as I went into a deeper state of sleep.
