Astrid crouched behind a carriage, awaiting Esther's order, who was just on the opposite side of her, hiding behind a few cartons of tomatoes.

With a slight flick of her wrist, Esther signaled Astrid to go, as she grabbed some tomatoes from the carton and started pelting them at the soldiers. She said all sorts of wild things-anything she could do to keep all eyes on her.

The soldiers drew closer to Esther. From the top of the castle, a squad of soldiers drew their crossbows. Esther disappeared behind the cart.

The soldiers drew their weapons, drawing closer to Esther.

Taking her chance, Astrid sprinted towards the gap. Taking a relatively dry path through the ditches around the castle, she wriggled through the inner wall and into the castle.

Astrid looked up to see if anybody had noticed her. The guardsmen on foot were still circling the carts, investigating anybody near the scene they could find. A series of loud shouts came from the scene as they dragged a woman out of the tomato carts, dragging her back inside the castle for questioning.

Astrid sneaked along the wall, letting the shadows conceal her as she sought shelter along the outskirts of the palace. The archers guarded the top of the castle walls, confident that there was no more trouble, began to take back their original posts, walking along the breadth of the wall from the keep. However, it was clear that they were still tense and ready.

Just then, Astrid felt a tingling sensation near the nape of her neck, as the air around her seemed to shimmer and fade, for a moment, the space in front of her seemed painfully irreal, and strings of reality, fine-tuned to their paths, seem to waver in front of her. A mosaic of the world seemed to hold in front of her eyes.

Then, the world collapsed back into place, imploding with a silent crash. Astrid lay prone on the ground, gasping for air, attempting to recover from the reality shock.

By then a guard had turned around!

Astrid tensed. Slightly leaning off the ground, she drew a knife from a pocket sheath, hiding the blade in the folds of her cloak. She watched as the guard passed along the walkway, casually pacing up and down the castle's towers.

Astrid held her breath and waited until the guard passed. Sure she couldn't be seen, she stood up and leaned against the castle wall.

Still covered in her cloak, she scanned the castle's long inner walkway to make sure no guards could see her. When she was at last sure that she was undetected, she proceeded into the palace's wide-open gate.

Nobody suspected a thing.
