Akaashi's POV ; 12:19 A.M
I hadn't meant to see him. There was music playing so late at night that I simply grew curious of.
"That's Shouyou," Yuichi spoke softly. He was the one who had taken me out of my room so I could grab a glass of water. He was already awake, apparently, I'm sure a lot of others were, too.
We're too excited for tonight, the gala.
"He's been practicing after everyone goes to sleep for the voter's pole."
"What voter's pole?"
He froze as if he hadn't realized I wasn't aware of what he was talking about, then, suddenly he laughed.
"Oh, did I say voter's pole?! Shit, uh, nah! I meant, like, something besides... that..?"
"Tell me what you're talking about, Officer Yuichi. I want to be made aware."
He stayed quiet.
"You know how Shouyou is, hiding things to carry the burden by himself. What if he gets hurt? What if he dies? I want to know, Officer."
Finally, I seem to have gotten to him, and he sighs knowing that.
"Just... come here and watch."
He led me to the gym door, and pulled the blind over the window up an inch, just enough for us to peek through.
It was Shouyou, his body dressed in gold beads and white silk, and his mouth covered with a beaded mask.
I always knew he was graceful, like the first flower of Spring blowing in the yet-to-be-warmed breeze. Strong, courageous, ready to prove itself, and ready to spread happiness to everyone around.
That's what Akaashi felt as he watched Shouyou from this small slit in the blinds.
They say the most beautiful things in the world can't be seen, not even touched, they must be felt with the heart, and I couldn't help but to wonder if this is what true beauty was.
My knees felt weak.
"I know," Spoke Yuichi, "He's really good, huh? After the performance, the host is supposed to pick the best group on stage for one-on-one time. Shouyou thinks he could find out more information on other criminals if he can talk with him."
"I think... he has a pretty damn good chance of winning."
Because someone like Shouyou, someone so stunningly rare, is someone bound to capture Sakusa's attention.
-----
third-person POV
"It's so fancy~!" NIshinoya exclaimed with excitement evident in his voice.
"Woah~! Sakusa's an ass, but, damn, can he throw a party!"
"Enough, guys, we're not here to play around! Most of the others posing as staff are already inside. We need to get into our positions as well. Does everyone have their masks?"
The only ones left to enter were the posing servers and the dancers. Everyone else had come early and got into position, observing everything each from a unique angle.
They were dressed in their dancing clothes and uniforms, depending on the job they would be doing, and preparing to enter the large building as well.
There's one person missing, though, and that's their commander himself. Shouyou. He should have finished showing group one around by now.
"He's not late, yet, let's wait a min-"
"No, no, there's the last limo!"
Just as Nishinoya had said, the last limo they had rented for this occasion had stopped right before them and the door clicked open.
Jaws fell.
Even if his costume was much like Kageyama's and Nishinoya's, he was the leader of their little dance group, so it had more accessories that definitely suited someone as stunning as Shouyou.
The gold brought out his eyes, and the white silk gave his body an angelic type of aura around it. He clicked his mask in place over his mouth and glanced over everyone.
"You look good with black hair!" commented Nishinoya, breaking the awkward sound of shuffling as the limo drove away.
"It's not like I had a choice. Thanks, though, Nishi."
Nishi.
Nishi.
Nishi...
Nishinoya had almost forgotten about their code names. Shouyou's voice would forever be remembered in his head, saying that wonderful nickname.
"Does everyone remember their roles?"
The group nodded, yet their commander's words were lost among the breeze that passed and gently clicked the beads of his costume together.
"We'll be the second to last group performing. That's all the time I could buy us. If you find anything out, tell me in the earpiece, but make it discreet. No one must know who we are."
The weight of what they were getting into didn't seem to sit to heavily on their shoulders. After all, they've been risking their lives since adolescence.
The only thing they had to worry about was proving themselves worthy of Shouyou's praise and attention.
"Tobi, Nishi, don't worry about messing up. If anything happens, just know I'll be there to help. You can rely on me, okay?"
The two nodded, obviously, because they know they can trust Shouyou with their lives, which the situation they were about to toss themselves in would possibly call for just that.
"Alright, I'm trusting you all, so do your best!"
"Yes, Commander!"
-----
"Are ya ready, Sakusa~? Somethin' tells me we're gonna get some fun t'night~"
Sakusa adjusted the collar of his dress shirt in the body mirror. Indeed, there was something fishy in the air, and Sakusa found it beyond amusing. A smirk played on his lips.
What, with the sudden reduction in criminal activity, Sakusa knows Shouyou, that troublesome little policeman, is bound to try and stop him.
He's released fake information strategically into the public, just for the ears of the police to overhear.
"Indeed, Miya. Let's see what all our ex-comrades are capable of under such a... heavy influence."
"He's gonna show up in disguise, ya know? How ya gonna weed him outta the crowd?"
Atsumu tossed his hands behind his head, the wall supporting his lopsided weight. He was Sakusa's guard for the night, so he's keeping an eye on him as the curly-haired male prepares for his big entrance to the gala as the host.
At the entrance doors were Osamu, Atsumu's twin brother, and Kita, the leader of the Inarizaki mafia. Aran will be on the stage tonight with the dancers, observing them from a close angle.
Everyone else working beneath Sakusa are hidden within the crowd as guards or guests, following orders to keep their eyes peeled for a certain ginger.
"I'll know him when I see him. You can't hide your aura, after all, and his is... different."
"Hm, interestin'."
And, with one last look in the mirror, Sakusa turned to Atsumu and nodded once.
"I'm ready, let's go."
