Bokuto's POV (25)
"Aren't you gonna go home? Clock says it's 3 a.m."
Shouyou was sitting at the desk beside the cell, papers in his hands and a frustrated pout on his lips. "I can't leave without finishing this, and I don't trust you alone."
"But you trusted Daichi alone."
"That's different, would you go to sleep already?"
I walked over to the side of the cell where Shouyou was, a mere five feet away, the bars separated us, I wish they weren't there. "I'm not tired, though! Talk to me!"
"I can't, I-" He gasped and stood, shuffling the papers around eagerly. His phone was ringing again, it's been vibrating for hours. From what I can see, it's been the same number continuously calling.
"Bokuto! Your base, it's in the mountains, right?!" Shouyou scampered over after jotting something down.
He was smiling, it was a bright grin, I could tell he was trying to keep his voice down so everyone else could rest.
And, as I figured, it was the location of our base. Spot on.
"That's impressive, how'd you figure it out?"
"Well, you're not subtle with your escapes, unlike the other gangs around here. Thanks to your straightforward leaves, I was able to review some of the street cameras and piece everything together!"
Aw, he looks so proud.
"And what are you gonna do with that information?"
"I'll lock you all up."
"And?"
"And get answers."
Oh, that's an interesting answer. I thought he'd say something like 'I'll put a stop to all your naughty deeds!'. Or, you know, whatever a police officer would say.
"Why are you in here doing all that? Do you not have an office?"
He made his way back to the desk and began cleaning things up. "... Not yet... I haven't done enough for my team members to respect me. They think I'm... Nevermind! Nevermind, forget it, you should be asleep right now! You have hours of interviewing ahead of you tomorrow!"
Awe~! How adorable~!
I slid down the bars and felt my lips form into a smirk.
"But you've-"
"Shouyou-Kun, are you still here?"
Shouyou turned to the door and brightened up at who entered.
"Ah, Chief, yeah! What's up, Sir?"
A frown tugged my lips down. The old dude opened his mouth to speak, I interrupted him as he did to us.
"Hey, old man, we were fixing to fuck. Could you leave us be?"
The red that exploded on Officer Shouyou's face made me smirk. What an interesting face. "N-No! No, we weren't! You! Go to sleep already!"
The bars were cold against my face. "Still not tired~"
He bit the inside of his cheek and turned back to face the chuckling old man and explain himself. I'd bit that cheek for you any day. What a catch~
His phone's ringing again, who the hell's blowing it up like that? It's not a number used around here, either.
Old dude left and Shouyou went back to the table, facing me the entire time he was walking with an 'are you serious?' face. I shrugged.
Akaashi and Konoha were sleeping side by side behind me, I had to remember to keep my voice down a bit. They did good today, I'm proud of them.
When I turned back to Shouyou, his face was no longer amusing, not in a good way. He had his phone in his hand, an unreadable, uncertain expression plastered on his face.
"Hey, I have to take this real quick." He looks angry now. He gripped his phone tightly, turned his back to me, and pressed the answer call-
God damn.
Immediately, I could hear a loud man screaming. He hung up, they called back, he answered. They were quieter now, just a bit, but the space echoed, I could catch some of his words.
"Where the hell did you go?! I'm gonna find you, you stupid mother-"
Beep.
He called again.
"Don't you hang up on me again, or I'll-"
Beep.
I snorted in the midst of trying to control my laughter, Shouyou side-eyed me unamused. Another call, he answered.
"... Look, I just wanna know where.... calling you all day... bother to pick up. I wanna talk this out, I'm worried."
"... I've moved on already, Takato, you should too."
"I can't live... only one for me... Shouyou, come on!"
Through the snippets I could hear, it sounded as if the man was crying. Shouyou turned to me, held the phone away from his mouth, and held up a finger. "Don't do anything stupid, I'll be back."
He was oddly calm, but there was something telling me I should stay where I am. He left through the door, I sat on the floor and pouted, expecting to be drenched in silence for a while.
"YOU MOTHER FUCKING STUPID ASS WHOREY FUCKING BITCH! YOU'RE GONNA FUCKING LISTEN TO ME OR I'M GONNA COME THROUGH THIS PHONE AND CHOKE YOU WITH THAT FUCKING DICK YOU'RE SO PROUD OF."
I couldn't help but turn toward the door with wide eyes and burst into laughter. That's quite the tongue for such a cute little guy. I hate to be the one on the receiving end of that.
Daichi woke up at the shouting, which was loud even through the door, and turned to me as I wiped my eyes from laughing so hard.
"Damn, who pissed in his coffee?"
"No idea, but I feel bad for them! Ahaha!"
Soon, Shouyou came back in and tossed his phone onto the desk with a sigh. He flopped onto the chair and slammed his head against the table. I think he passed out from exhaustion.
"Uh, Officer..?" Daichi called, Shouyou twitched. Oh, he's alive.
"Sorry, I hope I didn't wake you. You all have to be interviewed tomorrow, so it's best if you get some sleep."
His voice was soft, an odd contrast to what it was a moment ago.
"Is everything... okay..?"
"... Just a crazy ex from my hometown. The situation's been handled."
'Handled', you say...
"Hey, Shouyou, I can be your crazy boyfriend, too! I'll make sure you can't ever leave if that's what you're into~"
Shouyou's nose scrunched, he snatched a blanket off the back of the chair and handed it to me through the bars.
Well, more like tossed.
"Get to sleep."
"I will if you sleep with-"
He left the cell room, I pouted and curled in on myself under the blanket. "You're really such a baby sometimes, Bokuto."
"I can't help it, I'm into cute guys like him."
"I thought you had a girlfriend?"
"Not anymore."
"... Ah... Gotcha..."
