Jay and Hailey were at the district working on some paperwork they didn't finish the night before. Hailey was busy typing away, thinking Jay was doing the same thing, but Jay was responding to an email.

"We should get Isla a car," Jay blurts out, startling Hailey from her tunnel vision of getting work done.

"What prompted that thought?" Hailey questioned, exiting her chair and walking around to Jay's desk. He quickly changed to the Word document he used, so Hailey wouldn't see.

"She's almost 17 and had her license for a bit. I think it's time for her to get her vehicle to take herself places." Jay said, rereading what he had already typed on the document.

"You just don't want to drive her around places anymore, do you?" Hailey asked, raising an eyebrow at her husband.

"Well...that too," Jay admitted to his wife, causing them both to chuckle. "In all seriousness, I want her to have her car; we can't drive her around forever."

"That's true. But we need to do work, so let's get back to that, and we can discuss getting Isla a car later." She told her husband, walking back to her desk and resuming her work on the paperwork.

"What kind of car were you thinking about getting, Isla?" Hailey asked her husband as they made their way to the truck.

"I was thinking about giving her the truck,  and then you and I can get upgrades on our vehicles," Jay told his wife, reaching down to grab her hand and bring it to his lips for a kiss.

"Jay, the Ram is a police vehicle; I don't think CPD will be OK with that," she responded honestly.

Hailey didn't see the slight smirk on her husband's face. Hailey didn't know that Jay had already bought the three brand-new vehicles for Christmas.

He had had his and Hailey's car delivered to the CPD mechanics for the necessary bells and whistles and had had Isla's car waiting at the dealership for them to pick up. Jay just wanted Hailey to think they would start looking at cars for their daughter.

"You're probably right. We'll find her something," Jay told his wife.

"We can do that when we get home," Hailey smiled.

The two reached the truck; Jay let go of his wife's hand to open the passenger side door for her. Hailey smiled, getting in the car and kissing Jay before shutting the door and heading to the driver's side.

"Alright, let's go home," Jay said after getting in the truck and driving home.
