I was still shook up from everything that happened and was course, what tape did he mean? Where was it and most of all what was it about? Andy held me in his strong arms as we watched the fireworks show, it was amazing the street dance played well in into the night. I was forever watchful of the people around me, searching the crowds for the man who drove that green truck. On our way back home Andy informed he was staying the night at my house, I had no problem with that.

The house was quite and still as we enter and I thought may I need a dog, not just any dog, a guard dog. Tomorrow I would go to the shelter an look. After a hot shower, Andy and I had a few glasses of wines by the fire, it was so romantic. He caressed my hair and kissed my lips, one thing lead to another by the early morning light I felt rested and relaxed, all emotions and tension had left my body and mind.

Over coffee I told Andy about my thought on going to the animal shelter and he quite arrangement with me and even offered to go with me, but I assured him I would be fine, He called me a determine woman, funny I never thought of myself as determine of strong, but through Andy's eyes I could see it.

I finally made it to the Animal Shelter, it had moved from where I remembered it was, and after several detours and asking for directions I finally made it. There were so many adorable puppies and dogs to choose from, but I knew I needed an adult dog. Looking in the cages was so hard, I knew I could only handle one. Then I saw him, standing off to the side was a beautiful German Shepard and when our eyes met, that's was all it took. I could see the gentle love in his eyes and a soul so full of life. He was only eight months old, and given up for adoption because his owner had died. His name was Chance, and that suited me fine, that was the perfect name because we both have had a second chance at life.

I filled out his papers and we were on our way, all his shots were updated and they even gave him a bag of food although he didn't care for it. So off to Harper's hardware store, yeah I get to show off Chance and buy a collar and leash along with his own bed. When we arrived Mr. Harper was so glad to see me as I was him. He also thought a dog was a good idea, he could hardly believe everything that had happened to me, half was gossip and the other was the truth. Straight from me, my father always said if you want the truth get it from the horse's mouth. It amazed me how Chance and I took to one another. I would walk he would walk, I would stop and he would stop. Then he did the funniest thing and as I watched him I couldn't believe my eyes. He went over to the a toy shelf and picked one out and placed it on the counter at the register, it was a stuffed white owl. Mr. Harper and I just busted out laughing, and course I bought it.

I had a few more errands to run, the grocery store being one of them.

"Chance can stay with me so he won't have to be in the truck."

With the grocery store being across the street I agreed. I told Chance to be good and I would be back soon. He watched me as I left, I only needed a few things like bacon and eggs, and of course more wine. While I was in the store the green truck showed up in the parking lot. Witness told me that a strand man started messing around under my truck when all of a sudden this german shepard appeared and started growling and barking at the man. It scared the man and he took off in his truck, Chase had saved the day. I went to the garage and they discovered that the brake line was almost cut in two. My God he was trying to kill me. I had it fixed and went home with Chance.
