The meet(ing)

I'm sitting on one of the blue uncomfortable folding chair that are lined up in a row against the wall facing the pool and a big framed window. I decided while I was sitting waiting for Joe my coache to say it's time for warm up that I would read my book. I pull it out of my pink string backpack "Mrs.Peregines home for peculiar children" the title read. I started reading the beginning of chapter 7 "one of the peculiar children steps out on to the stage-"when I suddenly here my name.
I know the voice its familiar sweet yet has this certain snap to it. I look up to see Grace walking towards me with 2 boys. I can't exactly see there faces just the top of their hair. Which seems to be blond. Once they reach me I stand up and give Grace a hug when I look over her shoulder I see Jake a boy from my school and his brother John, standing there trying not to look to awkward.
I look at Grace and ask "what are you doing here" she answers by saying like it should have been obvious (it kind of was) "to-" Grace starts, but John interrupts and says "to cheer you on!" I blush a bit, Grace must have noticed because she nudged me lightly. Than I say "I didn't think you would actually come". "Well you did text me and Grace so why wouldn't we have come?" John says. "I don't know sometimes I dont like to get my hopes up" I say trailing off.
In a loud voice Joe says interrupting the awkward"500 HUNDRED FREE YOU HAVE 30 SECONDS TO GET IN" 'Thank goodness' I think as I quickly turn around and reach for my swim cap slide over my ballerina bun grab my goggles than say "talk to you later" and lightly jog over to the side of the pool. I jump in right as I here Joe's count down "5...4...3...2...1" and at that split second the begging swimmers in the lane start. I'm in the middle behind Harper, Cecilia and a few others behind me are some slower swimmers. I see Harper push off the wall I wait till she reaches the flags than I push off leaving the wall behind me, the water rushing on the sides of me.
