I wonder if the nurse will let John in or if I can go out. Since I wasn't hooked up to anything except the rolling thing with the water bag on it, I decided to go and adventure. Getting up very slowly I grab the water bag and start to walk..very...slowly. I Open the door and walk down the hallway. I eventually make it to what looks like a lobby. Then I see him he's sleeping in a lobby chair. Next to him is Harper awake reading a magazine. She looks up (it must have been her sense because I didn't make a noise). "JUNE!" John jumps awake. "June? June? Where's June?" He says. Harper runs over to me and gives me a hug. I start to walk over to John. He looks bad like he's been crying and all shooken up. I sit down next to him. Harper says "I'm gunna go get something to drink." I say "ok" and turn back to John.
"I jumped in" he says
"You what?" I ask slightly confused.
"When you started to sink no one was doing anything everyone stood there. So I took off my shoes and jumped. I took you out and someone started CPR I-I was so scared that y-you." He's trying not to cry. "You would be gone."
"But I'm not I'm here and you saved me."
"Harper called 911 and she stayed so calm. I was panicking just sitting next to you waiting."
There's a pause. He starts talking again.
"June do you know what happened when I got here?"
"No." I say kind of worried.
"I pulled up in my truck, parked, ran straight in here as they were bringing you out of the ambulance. I wanted to come see you but they didn't let me. Harper came in and had to grab me and pull me back. I wanted to punch someone I was so mad they wouldn't let me see you. I stayed here all night in my soggy clothes. A little later Harper went over to Walmart and bought me this cheap T-shirt and pants. I wanted to be there with you.."
He trails off and once again we sit in silence. It's there I realize he cares about me he, really does and that he is the one.
"John?" I say
"Ya?"
I don't say anything for a moment. Than I lean in and kiss him. When I pull back I say
"Sometimes actions are stronger than words" imitating him.
He blushes and it's like it's just us in the little lobby. Through all the busyness we sat still. Me and him.
