☆June's injury (end.)

Head and hand.

We walk back into the pool holding hands. Diving is almost over so I tell John "I need to go get ready for warm up, but I'll see you after."
"Ok see you soon" John says
I walk into the pool room and get my cap and goggles on. Joe says "OK 300 YOU PICK" which in his mind is I bet they'll pick their worst stroke so they can get in a nice work out, but in my mind it means pick the easiest stroke and get done fast so I can see John before my race. I pick free style and just go with it. Once I'm done I decide to keep my cap on and not go see John since my race is pretty soon. I wave to Grace, John ,and Jake than take a seat by Harper.
"You kissed him and didn't tell me?!" Harper says. I don't even bother asking how she knew more than likely she'll just say I have my ways or something. So instead I just say
"I don't kiss and tell"
"Hhhmm you guys are toooooo cute"
"Haha thanks I'll talk to you about it later my race is almost up"
"Ok"
I walk over to my lane and I hear the announcer say "100 backstroke JV" that's my cue. I step up to the block and once again the feeling, the count down "on your mark...get set...go!!" I jump back. Water rushing. When I'm about at the end of the first lap I hear a gasp from the crowd than I feel a sharp pain in my head. I stop. The last thing I feel is the water rushing from all directions, last thing I hear is "JUNE!" In a voice that sounded like John and a big splash. I'm sinking..sinking. And everything goes black.

I wake up looking at a white ceiling with little black spots all over. I hear beeps and different machines. I look over and see my Mom sitting in a chair sleeping.
"Mom" I say but it hurts to even talk, my head has this banging feeling ever time I move. I see a button that says 'nurse' so I press it for about one Mississippi wait for maybe a minute and in comes a nurse looking all panicked. "I don't know where I am or what happened" I say. Relief comes over her face. "Your in Mercy Hospital you have a concussion and a broken finger." the nurse answers. "I'm rondah I'll be your nurse till you get better" she comes over and checks something on the screen by my bed side.
There's rustling coming from where my mom is sitting. She wakes up and walks over to my bed side looking like she hasn't slept for days. "Thank God she's awake" mom says. The nurse leaves the room for us to talk.
"Where's John?" I say very concerned.
"He's fine" my mom answers.
"What happen, did something happen to him"
"He's out in the lobby he's been waiting there all night waiting for them to let him in to see you but it wasn't visiting hours when we came."
"Is Harper ok?"
"Yes She's out there with him."
"How did I get a concussion?"
"When you were swimming backstroke you must have counted wrong and you smashed your head and hand into the wall"
"Oh" I say
"What time is it?"
"You ask a lot of questions and it's 12:44."
"Where's Dad?"
"He went to the cabin for fishing opener I told him to stay because your injury isn't to bad June."
"Ok, but didn't you have some stuff to do today?"
"Well June I can't just leave my daughter when she's in the hospital still passed out"
"Well I'm not passed out anymore, You can go you had important things to do" I want her to go so she can get her things done and I want to see John but I know I can't when she's here.
"Hhmm" she says
"Go" I say knowing that she needs to.
"Well I do have some stuff to do but I won't be gone to long ok?"
"Ok now go. Oh and can you pick me up something to eat I'm hungry I usually eat after swim meets but since.."
"Ok I will"
She walks out the door blowing a kiss.
