Chapter 9: Smooth Sailing From Here On Out

"Sooo... anyway out of the basement?"

"We could use the elevators" Chica suggested.

"I tried that. I think it might be broken or something cause Freddy and I used it but it never came back when I called for it again"

"Maybe we could try again. If not, there should be a staircase somewhere."

You decide to give the elevators a shot one last time. You both head to the elevators, moving quickly through the corridor that gave you half a lifetime worth of trauma earlier.

"Feeling alright there lucky stars?" Chica asked, noticing your tense nature.

"As dandy as a daisy. Just uhh... bad memories here from about half an hour ago." You responded.

Both you and chica reach the elevator and she cheerfully pressed the button, waiting patiently. After a moment, the elevator doors opened with bright lights and the Pizzaplex theme music.

"I swear it was broken before..." you turn to Chica, who was raising a brow at you with her arms folded, tapping her foot. It gave a doubtful expression.

"I swear! I'm not lying. Please I'm not crazy. It was broken." You pleaded and she burst into laughter.

"Ahaha, I'm just teasing you. I believe you" she giggled. You chucked and stepped into the elevator.

"How did you even do that with your eyebrows? You're made of metal"

"We can do all sorts of expressions lucky stars. We are formed with malleable metal. Parents love it for the pictures." You had to admit that despite hating fazbear entertainment, you thought the robot designs were pretty cool. Malleable metal? Such an unnecessary, yet cool thing to add.

Chica pressed the button and the elevator slowly went up. Why did the elevators open this time and not before? Weird.
You realise the elevator ride was slow, and quite.

"Soooo, nice weather today huh?" You internally face-palm. You've tried this conversation-starter with Freddy and it was lame.

"I haven't seen the outside lucky stars, but I'm pretty sure it's amazing. Filled with lots of pizza!" She cheered in a singing tone.
Freddy practically said the same thing, they haven't been outside. The whole 'weather' thing needed to stop.

The elevator ride became quite again. Although Chica didn't mind (she was doing a little dance to the music), it still bothered you.

"Oh I just realised, I haven't told you my name"

"That's alright lucky stars, I've scanned you already. You're the new employee here. I get tonight has been a little tough for your first time, but I do hope you come back later on. I'm sure after this whole situation, your new career with us will be a breeze, best friend." She had such a gleaming expression, and she called you best friend. How were you supposed to tell her that you plan on quitting and sueing the company after you leave.

"In the mean time," she continued, "we can get you to rest. That head of yours needs some good resting."
That reminder of the head injury you sustained earlier had suddenly brought the pain back, or rather brought your attention back to it. Maybe a good resting was just what you needed.

"We're here~" she sang as she did a twirl. Her room was hot pink, similar to her clothing and accessory brand colour. A few pizza boxes were scattered around, but the rest of the place looked good.

You walk over and plop yourself onto the red sofa, grabbing a chica pillow to rest your head upon.

"Ahh, now isn't that just cozy" she walked over and sat on the coffee table across you.

"Thanks chica. This is nice" You were comfortable.

"Oh, since the elevators were working, maybe your fazwatch might too." She suggested.

"You mean call Freddy? I hope it works" you brought the watch up to your lips and called.
"Freddy? You there? Hellooo." In response was static and glitched noises. Ominous whispers and then the transmission cut blank.

"Well that was a little funky wasn't it" Chica giggled. It sure was. Something must have jammed your communication signal with Freddy.

"Ugh, I can't figure out what been going on tonight. Strange things have been happening, like that rabbit person, and those elevators." You shove a pillow into your face with frustration.

"Hmm, do you know what time it was when you tried those elevators?" She asked. You thought about it.

"Well, it was maybe an hour after I woke up from that shelf incident I think. Why?"

"Every hour, the building redirects the electricity, powering only the recharge stations. Everything else would have been out of power." Chica states.

"Why would that be a thing?! That's so dumb!" A childish insult, but you didn't have the energy to have a good comeback for fazbear entertainments decisions.

"It's for a security protecol" she clarifies. "The moon daycare attendant does a round of security checks. He has access to the camera feedback of abnormal motion before the lights go out, and then he goes to check it when the lights go out"

"So how long is this 'lights out' phase?"

"About 10 minutes or so. But we don't have to worry about that since we're safe in my room" she smiled.

"Safe? Would I be in danger I came in contact with him? I'm an employee though." This kind of had you worried.

"Ahaha...ha... well... the security here is a weee bit tight and it would probably be... better.. if we do not come into contact with the lovely daycare attendant." She muttered nervously, carefully phrasing her words.

"Ok so would he be able to get in here?"

"There aren't any cameras in my room so it should be fine" she replied.
'Should be'. That phrase didn't sound certain enough for you.

"And if we weren't fine, where would we go?" You asked nervously.

"Well, we could hide out in the recharge station until it's safe to leave. He cannot enter the recharge stations. "

"Would it be safe for me to be in there?"

"It's not made for humans to go in, but it's magnetic charging, wireless charging. The magnetic field created by the recharge station creates a current in the coil inside of our circuits, and then that's converted to electial energy used to charge us. So hypothetically, it wouldn't zap you because there's no closed circuit within you." She explained.
"Unless you have an electrical device within you. You don't have any implanted pacemakers do you?" She asked. You understood absolutely none of it apart from 'wireless charging'.

"No I don't have any implanted devices that I know of. So where's the nearest recharge station?"

"Hmmm, I think the nearest accessible one is in the utility tunnels, we should maybe go there an bit earlier before the hourly power outage to ensure we make it on time"

So you now had a solid plan. What time was it anyways? You lift your fazwatch to check. 1:48AM

"We should probably start heading there"

"That's great lucky stars. I've checked-"

Metalic cluncking can be hear from outside Chicas room. In haste, you jump up and hide behind the curtain to her glass display wall and peer outside.
